‘The Other Shakespeare’ by Lea Rachel Book Review.
Adult Books , Young Adult Books / February 28, 2015

THE OTHER SHAKESPEARE by Lea Rachel Paperback, 197 pages Published 2015 by Writer’s Design Press (first published November 12th 2014) What if Shakespeare had been born a woman? What would have happened to her? And, what would she have accomplished? Virginia Woolf first posed these questions in her acclaimed novel A Room of One’s Own…and now maverick author Lea Rachel steps up to tell the rest of the story. The Other Shakespeare carries readers back to the sixteenth century to follow Judith Shakespeare, the older sister of William, as she tries to make a name for herself in a male-dominated society that consistently denies women their independence. Born with as much talent, creativity, and drive as her younger brother, she is stifled by the world around her and ultimately resorts to extreme measures to get accepted and have her talent recognized. Judith’s story is rich with history, conflict, and drama and is sure to appeal to fans of Virginia Woolf, William Shakespeare, and character-driven fiction. MY REVIEW: This was an entertaining concept of life in Shakespeare’s time…A time when women had little value and was considered helpless and lacking in feeling and intelligence. With the gallantry and appreciation some men…

Children's Books , Young Adult Books / February 27, 2015

Welcome to the Fun yet Poignant ‘Two Kids Book Review Blitz presented by Mother, Daughter & Son Book Tours. Title: Two Kids * Author: Richard Levine * Publication Date: June 7, 2014 * Publisher: Firedrake Books LLC * Pages: 247 * Recommended Age: 10+ Summary: Tall, gawky, and twelve, D.C. Blau stumbles into her cousin Becky’s birthday party wearing a neon yellow T-shirt so bright it could burn someone’s eyeballs out. Towering above the boys there and self-conscious about her height, she prefers to think that it’s the boys who are the outliers, that Becky has more “dwarf” friends than Snow White — but one among them catches her eye, Rob, a definite Bashful. Strangely, though they’ve never before met, the tall girl and the shy boy take to each other like long lost pals. So begins an unusual tweenage friendship, one that carries the two kids though a year both terrible and wonderful. There’s banter, and fun with fantasy. Ballplayers so huge they’re named after mountains. An island populated with up-chucking vampire birds. Freaky fortunes from a funky fortune-teller lady. A flukey fishing trip, and a rollicking, roller-coaster of a small plane ride. Father’s Day blues. And in…

ATTENTION! FOR ALL WHO ARE INTERESTED IN FAMILY ORIENTED SITES, PLEASE READ THIS!

PLEASE ASSIST IN THIS WORTHY CAUSE! A very talented author – and parent – Cami Checketts, is leading this  campaign to persuade Amazon and Barnes & Nobles Book to create a genre for “Clean” fiction and non-fiction books. Many of us enjoy reading books until suddenly profanity or sexual explicitness has been added, ruining many individuals reading enjoyment. For those who enjoy those books or do not mind it, that is okay. But for adults or parents, it would be very helpful if we knew ahead of time if these situations are included so we can spend our dollars and time in a more accommodating fashion…it may also deter some unfavorable reviews by both types of readers! Relax Kids: Little Book of Stars by Marneta Viegas – Book Review by LAWonder10
Children's Books / February 19, 2015

Research supports that mindful meditation calms the brain, inspires creativity and enhances cognitive and social-emotional skills. The reflections in Little Book of Stars incorporate simple relaxation exercises and visualizations designed to improve children s self-esteem and confidence and reduce stress and anxiety. Practiced regularly, these exercises can have a profound effect on children s mental, emotional and physical well-being.” My Review: This is a book of prose and poetry for children. The stories in poetry reminds me of the Mother Goose , Anderson’s Fairy Tales and other such stories… it is very good. Stars are something children can see and relate with. There are 52 illustrated stories through poetry that are perfect for any mood or for a teaching tool. The illustrations by Nicola Wyldbore-Smith are simple, colorful and FUN! The Book is recommended for children under Five years of age…I disagree. Perhaps some Four or Five year old children would enjoy it but I feel it is mostly too wordy and the illustrations too simple to maintain the interest and attention of Toddlers. I do believe Five to Eight years of age would be a perfect range to enjoy these wonderful teaching aids. It is also a perfect book…

‘Reggie & Me: The First Book in the Dani Moore series by Marie Yates – Book Review by LAWonder10
Young Adult Books / February 12, 2015

Reggie and Me is the first book of the Dani Moore Trilogy. It touches slightly on the rape issue, and how people increase the trauma by acting awkward around the victim, not knowing what to say. It also deals with the feelings and turmoil the victim experiences afterward. Rape is an ever increasing issue almost half of the female population is forced to deal with..plus an increasing number of males as well. It is important others are there to firmly support those who experience this violation, and for those offended not going through life feeling like a victim. Pets are used in different type of healing therapies with an amazingly healthy outcome. This is a book all should read whether or not he/she has had to experience this situation. The characters were developed well as was the supporting scenes. There was a few paces the writing seemed a little awkward but mostly it was very well-written. The Book Cover could not have been better and the Title fit quite well. My review of this book offers a Four Stars rating. *I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review, of which I have given. PLEASE PURCHASE THIS BOOK…

‘Privacy Wars’: A Cybertech Thriller by John C. Trudel – Book Review by LAWonder10
Adult Books / February 7, 2015

A war hero father proudly set up an unique hi-tech company with his genius son as head of it. Now the father has disappeared and the son – now in his 30s – is left to operate it by himself. Thank goodness he has a trustworthy team to consult with. He is being pursued by various organizations and governments. Even his own United States officials are becoming corrupt. A crisis occurs and he must quickly decide what to do to protect his Company secret patent. He must protect his staff as well as himself. Is there anywhere safe? There were several good points made concerning the U.S. government and the “privacy issue”. This is a book of a near future setting that could very easily become true if this country continues on the course we are on. What I did not like about it, is the bad language and a lot of it. Also the author felt the need to throw in a sexual situation which could have very easily been left out. Also, there was excessive violence in one small section. The beginning chapters of this Ciber-Tech Thriller  were very hard to “get into”… It took patient concentration and…
