ZOE & ZAK and the Ghost Leopard by Lars Guignard Synopsis per Goodread: Imagine you’re totally lost in a strange city with no idea where you are and no way home. Now imagine that elephants and snake charmers start telling you that you’ve been chosen to save the world. Would you even believe them? What would you do? Zoe Guire isn’t sure. Having that elephant talk to her was really weird, and, as a rule, Zoe doesn’t do weird. Except the thing is, when Zoe goes along on her mom’s business trip to India, things get very weird, very quickly. Soon after she arrives, Zoe finds herself tagging alongside a kid named Zak, lost in a crazy city, with no money and no way home. And those are the least of Zoe’s troubles. Because if she’s to believe the scary-looking snake charmer guy sitting in the corner, she and Zak have been chosen — chosen to protect some kind of mythical animal called the Ghost Leopard from who knows what. Now, the further they get into the mountains, the more crazily impossible things get. Carpets fly and statues talk and if either Zoe or Zak want to make it…

‘Tika the Glass Jar’ by Tricia Chinn Campbell – Book Review by LAWonder10
Children's Books / March 27, 2015

Tika is a glass jar (aka a “glassie”) whose dream is to one day be recycled into a medicine bottle. In our world, that would be equivalent to becoming a nurse or doctor. Tika’s story is not an instruction manual on how to recycle. It’s simply the world she’s born into. Her story parallels our human world by touching on her personal dream and above all else, gently infuses social-emotional concepts that our children may deal with (self-esteem, self-worth and encouragement). MY REVIEW: This is a great book to introduce recycling to the very young! Cherizar Graham has done an excellent job in creating an expressive, colorful and entertaining illustrations! This is a great “early reader” for ages three to eight years of age. It would be a wonderful book for the Summer Reading Programs! My Review of this Book gives it a Five Stars rating. *I was sent this book in exchange for an honest review, of which I have given. PLEASE PURCHASE THIS BOOK FROM AMAZON HERE. [raw] [/raw]

‘The Neighbor’ by Robert Moore (a great man) – Book Review by LAWonder10
Adult Books , Young Adult Books / March 27, 2015

I NEED TO POINT OUT, ROBERT MOORE IS ONE OF THE MANY PATIENT AUTHORS WHO HAS WAITED A VERY LONG TIME FOR A REVIEW. I HAVE HAD A SOAP OPERA TYPE OF NIGHTMARISH TWO YEARS. I HAD TO MOSTLY PUT MY PERSONAL REVIEW SHELVES ON HOLD OFF AN ON. I MUST LET ALL MY READERS KNOW WHAT INCREDIBLY PATIENT, FORGIVING AUTHORS THESE MEN AND WOMEN ARE! EXCEPT FOR TWO “CHRISTIAN” AUTHORS, ALL THE REST HAVE BEEN VERY TOLERANT AND UNDERSTANDING. IT IS SO GREAT THERE ARE MORE GREAT INDIVIDUALS THAN THOSE WHO AREN’T! The Neighbor by Robert Moore Bachelor Bryan Wilson thinks he is in control when he decides to purchase a home in an upscale Morganton, North Carolina neighborhood. He has it all: a nice home, a great job, and the prospect of dating whomever he wants. Little does he know that the “”perfect life”” comes with its own trials and tribulations. MY REVIEW: This is a great story of individuals in a fairly small community. What is a seemingly stable, peaceful community soon changes. This is written in a style causing the reader to view it almost as a movie script. It lacks emotion and connection, yet…

The Cake House’ by Latifah Salom, My Interview with her, My Book Review + Book Giveaway on this site! (ends 4/07/2015)
Adult Books / March 23, 2015

This is a Tragedy/Suspense tale with a surprise twist, My Review & Interview with Latifah + Giveaway (below) on this site presented by the The Knopf Doubleday Group. Rosaura Douglas’s father shot himself after her mother left him . . . or at least that’s the story everyone is telling. Now her mother has remarried and Rosie is trapped in “The Cake House,” a garish pink edifice in the hills of Los Angeles that’s a far cry from the cramped apartment where she grew up. It’s also the house where her father died—a fact that everyone else who lives there, including her mother, Dahlia, and her mysteriously wealthy stepfather, Claude, want to forget. Soon, however, her father’s ghost appears, sometimes in a dark window, sometimes in the house’s lush garden, but always with warnings that Claude is not to be trusted. And as the ghost becomes increasingly violent—and the secrets of her family’s past come to light—Rosie must finally face the truth behind the losses and lies that have torn her life apart. BUZZ ABOUT THE BOOK “The Cake House is a gem of a novel: a mystery wrapped in a cloak of family dysfunction with subtle Shakespearean trim. . ….

Children's Books / March 23, 2015

Let’s build . . . a fort! Grab a pencil, draw the plans. We’ll construct it with our hands. Dad and son hit the hardware store. And then they start to build! Raise the walls up, hoist that beam. Real construction takes a team! When they’re all done, they’ll have the coolest fort ever! MY REVIEW: Let’s build is a fun book full of humor! It is especially perfect for Dad to read to a son. It will help acquaint the child to objects needed to build. The illustrations are done colorfully an well defined by Moko Sakamoto.  This quality 10 inch square hardcover book is a perfect size for summer reading groups, too. There are a few places the objects need to specifically be pointed out by the reader to the child. The other problem is,.. I hope the child does not feel this can be accomplished in a day! It takes much more planning and time. My Review of this book offers a Four and a Half Stars rating. *This book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review, of which I have given.

Dawn of Destiny by Lee Stephen Book Tour & Giveaway! – Book Review by LAWonder10
Adult Books , Young Adult Books / March 20, 2015

Join me with the review of this amazing book! I loved it better than Star Wars!   Presented by Book Description: Some men go to war for the glory. Some men go to war to escape. For Scott Remington, war is entirely different. It is a belief. It is a calling. It is a destiny. Leaving everything behind—his fiancée, his future, his life—he embarks on a mission of faith into a battle he can barely understand. This is his story. This is his war. This is only the beginning. Audiobook Description: The Dawn of Destiny audiobook project is a full adaptation of the first book in the Epic series. It’s not your typical “audiobook,” even though technically that’s what it is. When people hear “audiobook,” there’s a certain type of thing that usually comes to mind. Most likely it’s the thought of someone reading a book to them, occasionally with music playing in the background. This isn’t that. What you’re going to hear in this project, is more of an audio “experience,” the audio equivalent of a summer blockbuster movie. Over thirty voice actors played a role in this. This is ear-splitting sound effects, bombastic music, and characters shouting back…

Interview With Sharon Skretting Author of ‘The Ultimate Treasure Quest I: The Jewel of Peru (Volume 1)’!
Children's Books , Young Adult Books / March 19, 2015

I am excited to Introduce Author Sharon Skretting and her First Book in ‘The Ultimate Treasure’ Series!  1. Sharon, you were born in Alberta, Canada. What other places have you lived? What was/is your favorite place? Why?  I’m afraid I can’t weave any tales of grandeur about the many fascinating places I’ve lived.  I’ve been an Alberta girl my whole life.  Though I’ve traveled different places including Vancouver, Toronto, Oregon, down the coast to Santa Barbara, Anaheim, and San Diego. I’ve seen the Grand Canyon, Utah, Vegas, Yellow National Park, and spent some time in Nashville, Tennessee.  Of these, my favorite was Nashville. My daughter received a music scholarship to attend Belmont University so we went a few times to help her settle in.  The green wooded landscape was beautiful, and we found the people there warm and inviting, met new friends and love, love, loved the music! Nashville reminded us a lot of home, but still, I’m a girl from the prairie and probably wouldn’t trade the big blue sky and our Rocky Mountains for anything in the world…. Well, maybe tropical would be nice. LOL! I totally understand, however, I lived in the Philippines and still prefer the…

Adult Books , Young Adult Books / March 3, 2015

G.G. Vandagriff has done it again! Check out er newest release of ‘Exile’!  It is 1938, and Austria has just fallen to the Nazis. Amalia von Schoenenburg’s husband, Rudolf, has been murdered before her eyes. Fleeing to Switzerland with a message for Mr. Winston Churchill, she is accompanied by her two sons and Dr. Andrzej Zaleski, the man she has loved heart and soul since before the Great War. As this little band of exiles struggles to complete its vital mission, Amalia struggles with grief and guilt. She loved her husband and raised two children with him, but how can she deny the passion that has existed, hidden away—the passion of a lifetime? MY REVIEW: ‘The Last Waltz’ and now, the recently released ‘Exile’, are sure to become classics! Although Exile is written to be a “stand-alone” one is cheating oneself if the ‘Last Waltz ‘ is not read first! It will take a little more than the average time but it is so worth it!…Plus they are both very “clean”!! As a “stand-alone” this is still a very entertaining tale. G.G. Vandagriff has put the effort into research and has built a viable story based on facts. If…
