Lonely Lola Ladybug by Mary Jo Beswick – Book Review by LAWonder10!
Children's Books / September 26, 2015

LONELY LOLA LADYBUG by MARY JO BESWICK SYNOPSIS per Amazon: Lola is a lonely ladybug in need of a friend but afraid to leave her safe little nook in the big green tree. One day, encouraged by a lively party of ants, Lola decides she must be brave and venture out beyond her nook. She loads her backpack, gathers her courage and into the big green tree she goes in search of a friend. MY REVIEW: This was a very cute tale of a lonely ladybug who was afraid to go out of her house to find friends. She finally was convinced she would have to leave the comfort and safety of her home if she did not want to remain so lonely. Sure there was danger, but will it all be worth it in the end? The author skillfully uses rhyme in telling this story. She adeptly applied her own talents in providing the illustrations through water-color images. The last page is a parent’s guide to assist the child in gaining a better insight to the story’s main teaching points. *This Book was sent to me in exchange for an honest review, of which I have given. ABOUT THE…

When I Grow Up…by Gil McLean – Book Review by LAWonder10!
Children's Books / September 24, 2015

Fergus is only a little pup, but what should he be when he grows up? His friends all have different ideas and it seems there’s a lot more to being a dog than he first thought! Who will help him decide what to be? MY REVIEW: This is a delightful picture book for ages of 2 to 7 years. I can only assume the attractive water color illustrations were done by author as well as it was not stated. As so often asked by small children, Fergus wanted to discover who he might become in his adulthood. The problem is, the very cute story doesn’t answer who but only characteristics of what he should implement. Although all these things could be in answer to his question, it was very unclear. The best question, perhaps, would be… “What Should I Be Like When I Grow Up?” Still, this is a quality hardback book which would enhance any Library’s children’s book collection.

Fly A Jet Fighter by Hillary Koll and Steve Mills – Book Review By RaineesReviews
Children's Books / September 9, 2015

Fly A Jet Fighter by Hillary Koll and Steve Mills: Take to the skies on a mission to be the best fighter pilot! Follow each stage of the mission and complete the math exercises to create your squadron of jet fighter aces! From addition and decimals to line graphs and pie charts, these books have different challenges to be solved with a varying range of difficulty. Review by RaineesReviews:  My 10 year old son, Luke, really liked that this book had math problems that he could solve throughout the book.  He loves math and found that a great bonus to the book.  He also liked that it teaches about safety in a jet and also the part that talks about attacking targets on the ground.  He liked that it was written in a way that made him feel like he was reading a comic book but gave him really interesting facts and taught him.  He thinks it would be a great book for kids to read who like him enjoy learning about jets and like math and facts. As Luke’s mom, I thought the book was a great way to teach to children where they find it fun to read.

Where Christ Is Present: A Theology for All Seasons on the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation by John Warwick Montgomery & Gene Edward Veith, Book Tour Spotlight, & Giveaway.
Adult Books / September 7, 2015

This is a book of Two men’s ideas of religion and in honor of Martin Luther. This Book Tour is presented by the awesome …   Book Description for Where Christ Is Present: Five hundred years ago, the church of Jesus Christ underwent a Reformation. A lot happened after Martin Luther posted his 95 theses on the castle church door in Wittenberg. But the fallout was not simply the start of Protestantism. The Roman Catholic Church also recast itself in response to Luther’s call for reforms. And contrary to common belief, Martin Luther did not set out to start a new church. Rather, he was trying to reform the church that already existed by reemphasizing its essence—namely, the “good news” (the gospel) that Jesus forgives and saves sinners. The unity of the church was broken when the pope rejected this call for reform and excommunicated Luther, starting a chain of events that did lead to the institutional fracturing of Christendom and to a plethora of alternative Christian theologies. But, as many – including conservative Catholics – now admit, the church did in fact need reforming. Today, the church – including its Protestant branches – also needs reforming. Some of the…
