The help only he can offer…
Cypress Pointe, Florida, is a long way from LA, where pop singer Cassie Branford needs a hit to prove she’s not a twoalbum wonder. But her case of writer’s block could be over when the struggling songwriter meets Luke Hastings at a family wedding.
The legendary musician walked away from success at the height of his career. Yet Luke is already inspiring Cassie with his dedication to building a permanent community outreach center for troubled teens. Volunteering to help bring music into these kids’ lives is also bringing her and Luke closer. Maybe they’re not as different as he thinks…
My Review (LAWonder10):
Cassie had “writer’s block” while escaping to Florida to attend her father’s wedding…a wedding she did not even want to attend. While his new wife-to-be seemed nice enough, there were too many “deep-seeded” problems for her to forgive him of. However, she needed this time to come up with some new lyrics and tunes before returning to LA…her career was “on the line”. The wedding was quickly approaching and she wasn’t any closer to her goal than she was before leaving LA. Little did she realize the new direction she would soon take!
After a bitter, heart-wrenching divorce, Luke gave up fame and fortune to teach High School in a small town in Florida. He was alone. His parents died, his brother in jail, and no wife or children. He, and his brother, had been raised in an abusive home, that is why he created the Klub. He was content in taking care of “his kids” whenever he could and, hopefully, give them opportunities to recognize and develop each individuals talents. He would never trust another woman.. except Lauren, who voluntarily managed his clubs finances and interest.
This is a wonderful tale presented by two different people’s concepts. It is a story of a few individuals raised in a dysfunctional and/or abusive life style. It offers a great concept for “at risk” children. Adventure, mystery and romance atre also a part of this book, written for Adults, but YA will love it, too!
The writing is done very well. There is a smooth, steady flow to the tale and enough diversity to cause the reader to remain interested. The title and cover are eye-catching and a fairly good “fit” However, the Title wouldn’t be my first pick.
I offer a Four and a Half Stars reating
*This book/ebook was gifted to us. However, we were not asked to offer a positive review. These are our honest reviews.
This a fun story. I like the theme of the story. It was quick to capture my attention and then interesting enough to hold it throughout the story.
I like the characters really well. They were all easy to follow and were well-developed. I could easily feel their emotions and I also could picture myself their among them.
The cover was eye catching and fit the story well. The title of the book was also good for getting the reader’s attention.
I would highly recommend this book to other readers. It was a great read.
I think it earned a literary rating of 5/5
