Kate James has, once again, published an amazing tale of not “judging” on first impressions, values, corruption and romance.

Can his safe haven be enough for her?
Emma Meadows never imagined that sticking to her principles against an act of corruption by a New York senator would cost her her job as VP of communications. Heartbroken, she retreats to her cottage in the Adirondacks to lick her wounds and, in the process, rescues an injured dog that only Josh Whitmore can save.
The veterinarian works diligently to bring dog and woman back to full fighting form, until allegations against the senator become more serious. Seeing Emma’s reaction to the increasing pressure, Josh realizes that inevitably she’ll find a way back to the top…and he’ll likely lose her for good.
My Review (LAWonder10):
Emma had to get away from the city. She fled to her summer cottage in the Adriondacks.
She had sacrificed her fiancé, her home with him and her job when her principles were challenged. All she ad worked for all those years was gone! She at least had her self-respect, MAX (her Alaskan Malamute), some savings, and her cottage. It would give her a few months, along with some freelancing, to make decisions concerning her future.
Josh, the local veterinarian, was totally disgusted with Emma at first only to discover she wasn’t the woman he thought her to be.
They both had problems from past relationships and both had love for animals. This and increasing danger tosses them together. Can they possibly overcome the huge gap separating their lives?
As often in her books, Kate James, catches the reader’s attention with the first page then gradually builds on the intrigue, with added mystery and momentum, leading to a strong climax.
This book is filled with emotion and inspiration. As with all her books, it is “cleanly” written.
The Title and Cover are appealing and “fitting”.
This earns a strong Four and a Half Stars.
*This book was sent as a gift. I am not at all required to offer a positive review. This is my honest review.
I really like this story. I liked the way the real life situations fit in so well with the fictional story line. It flowed well from chapter to chapter.
I loved the characters and the setting. I could feel the characters emotions and got a good sense of their excitement and disappointments. I would love to live in a place like Sanctuary Cove. It has all the perfect things for the perfect place to live.
The cover of the book was a good fit for the story and the title fit well also.
It is a good clean romance with lots of everyday happenings and some not so everyday happenings.
I would definitely recommend this story to other readers.
I would give this book a literary rating of 5/5
