National Geographic’s Our Country’s Presidents (ages 10+, hardcover, $24.99, January 2017) is released every four years just in time for the inauguration and this year — as unusual as it was politically — was no different.  Ann Bausum and the Nat Geo Kids Books editors raced to complete this latest edition which profiles the 44 individuals who have served as President, plus includes extensive coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign as well as America’s newest commander in chief.  The teamwork and coordination behind creating this book is remarkable, but the results prove that it is well worth the effort.

Our Country’s Presidents has become THE gold standard as the most complete encyclopedia of the U.S. Presidency available.  This edition is fully up to date, featuring spreads that will fascinate the budding historian as well as the pop culture fanatic.  Timelines and descriptions of of crucial events that occurred while each president was in office lay the foundation, while thematic spreads run the gamut of issues surrounding the presidency —including the history of voting rights, what presidents have accomplished AFTER their time in office was over, campaign strategies, party politics, first ladies, presidential perks, White House traditions like the annual Easter Egg Hunt, and how letter writing may be a bit “old school” in our every day life it has always had a place in the oval office — even today.

This presidential election was certainly dramatic and unprecedented and by profiling each of the 44 presidents who have served and the 45th President-elect,  Our Country’s Presidents serves not only as an excellent reference but also as a singular volume that illustrates how the presidency has morphed over time.

My Review:

This is a must for any home, school, city or county library!

In addition to beautifully illustrated information concerning our country presidents, there is a full size (8.9 x11 inch) photograph of each president, including our 45th President Donald Trump! Each President has many “tidbits” of information of their lives and accomplishments in a short bio. In between bios is additional information of interest, such as, the development of the presidency, ideals of America, First Ladies, landmarks, atomic energy, and much more additional information related to the Presidency.

This book written for older children and YA, will be enjoyed by people of all ages!

The Book’s attractive, eye-catching Cover and Title is only a hint of what is inside! This will be a hardbound, quality reference, for all ages, for years to come! What a great gift for a family!

This is deserving of a Five Stars Review.
This book was gifted me but in no way was I asked to give a positive review. This is my honest review.
