MY REVIEW: (LAWonder10)
This is a delightfully, relaxing compilation of four historical romance stories to start off the Holiday Season with a flair! The first, Love and Joy Come to You, is written by very talented Jennifer Moore. It is a fun tale about Lord Covington, a man who was thrust into Lordship, after the sudden illness and death of his father and sister. His main intent is to keep his mother company and protected from society during the Christmas Season. The pain of Christmas without her loved ones has been too hard to endure. Understandably, when Lord Covington returns home from extended business, he was annoyed to discover a very young lady in his library, perusing one of his books then boldly questioning him. He discovered she was one of three children accompanying their aunt to visit hos mother for the Holidays. He would not have these people preying on his mother's "soft heart"! What results is a very unexpected Christmas! The second book A Christmas Courting, is totally predictable from the beginning but is well-written so it is enjoyable to read. Author, Chalon Linton, writes about a young woman, who is sad because she will be missing Christmas in her home town. She is split between joy and forlorn when she discovered her childhood friend will be in London to court his new wife to be. She is so excited to see him but dreads the fact he will be courting someone else. The third story, Mistletoe Memories by Jen Geigle Johnson, is about a future Duke who is sent on an extended journey to take car of their family's business in India. He and Alice promised to wait for each other. Things do not go as planned leaving both feeling betrayed. Patrick is called home to take over the duties of a Duke when his father unexpectedly dies. His heart is breaking because he cannot have his one true love, but under the circumstances, it is simply impossible. He must find another. The fourth and last story in this novel, is Second-Chance Christmas By Heidi Kimball. Gerard was obligated to return home for the Holidays for his mother's annual Christmas traditions. He had no desire to be near is best friend, Francie, who had rejected his proposal earlier in the year. He had spent months with his university friend. Now he extended an invitation to his friend and mother to spend Christmas at his home. He should have known the "mother" would include her daughter. He was not wrong about the woman's intention. Perhaps he should make the best of it, since he couldn't have the girl he truly loved. The third book ended very abruptly, although the story was interestingly predictable. The book as a whole earns a Four Stars rating from me. *This book was gifted to me with no urging, whatsoever, for a positive review. This is my honest review.
