It’s December 15th, time to mix up the holiday cocktails in tranquil Bryn Mawr, PA. Then a Samsonite full of gold goes missing, Bootsie’s not-so-bright brother Chip is kidnapped, and shady lawyer Scooter Simmons is offering investors shares in a fake golf resort. For antiques dealer Kristin Clark and her friends, this Christmas is murder….
About the book:
Kristin Clark and her group of friends are ready for a festive winter holiday in Bryn Mawr, PA, this winter—one that involves sipping martinis at Bootsie McElvoy’s annual bonfire, an engagement ring for former Mafia wife Sophie Shields, and a semi-legal poker tournament at Kristin’s antiques store. But this year, Old Saint Nick has something more dangerous in store.
A stranger dressed in a Santa suit has Kristin’s friends on his naughty list. First, Sophie’s favorite handbag is blasted by a bullet. Then, Father Christmas goes after Bootsie’s brother Chip with a golf club and leaves a threatening note demanding fifty grand and threatening to chop off Chip’s eyelid.
The annoying Eula Morris is also back in town for the holidays, more bossy than ever after winning a mega-jackpot in the lottery. She’s returned from a luxury cruise around the world with a handsome new boyfriend (who looks oddly familiar) and a Samsonite suitcase filled with gold bars. When the suitcase is snatched, Eula implores Kristin and the team to track it down.
Where is Chip? Why is a vengeful Santa targeting the gang? Who stole Eula’s suitcase? Kristin and her basset hound Waffles are on the case—before this white Christmas turns even darker….
Relate a typical daily schedule for you.
It starts with coffee and writing! Then I try to see a few minutes of the Today Show (love Al Roker) and then head out with our dog, an amazing basset hound named Murphy, who's waiting by the door and barking by this time. Next up is my job writing grants at a local charity, where it's fun and loud with lots of kids running around, and then I (sometimes) jog and (sometimes) cook dinner for our family. We've been making pizza on the grill lately, which is so much fun, or we meet friends for dinner, or if I'm lucky and it’s summertime, I go to a Phillies game, go to a Kenny Chesney concert, or have a girls night with my amazing friends. I'm trying to break my Real Housewives habit, but it's a long winter so I'm going to need these ladies for the next few months! I love to wind down listening to audiobooks also--anything British is perfect. Also, I need to check People.com because there are some great outfits being worn by movie stars and they need to be seen!
Right now, I’m also working on a book set at a tiki bar in Florida where the staff and boozy regulars are always stumbling onto crimes. And if I’m lucky, I get in a little reading time with Poirot and Hastings or Jeeves and Bertie Wooster. Currently, I’m knee-deep in P.G’ Wodehouse’s The Mating Season. Trust me, it’s worth diving into, if only for the character Esmond Haddock’s five elderly aunts who live with him in a country manor house named Deverill Hall. These aunts—Charlotte, Emmeline, Harriet, and Myrtle Deverill and Dame Daphne Winkworth—are pure gold.
