Book Tour, Guest Post & Giveaway for the MANTIS FORCE TRILOGY by RJ Amezcua! [Ends 11/7/18]10/31/2018
GUEST POST: Book Excerpt From Retribution Jazrene Vallo’s new life’s journey had begun all those years ago on the day of the massacre. * * * * * She’d been in the middle of the Clan of Hadassah, testing for leadership in the deserts of Jezreal. Emerging from among the dark caves of the mountain ranges of Theramore, she had seen what she believed were the first twinkling stars of the approaching night. But she quickly realized they weren’t stars at all—they were ships in combat, their fire littering the twilight skies high above. She ran around a tall boulder near a ledge, and in the far distance saw menacing pillars of black smoke that blotted out the proud cityscape of Moriah, the capital city of Ramah. Fear gripped her tightly in its claws, and she struggled to breathe. Suddenly, she was released from the paralyzing shock by a powerful surge of desperation as the faces of her family flashed in her mind. With their safety her only concern, she rashly traversed more than sixty kilometers back to her Moriah on foot. Arriving a day later, she found her hometown in ruins. A wave of nausea hit the pit of her stomach as she reached her home and staggered among what remained. The stench of death enveloped her. In horror, she collapsed to the ground near the body of her beloved husband with two of their three children wrapped in his arms. Jazrene did not know how long she remained there crying for them to come back to her. Then, the realization hit hard that her daughter Minna Lavine was missing. Finally, she rose with an adrenaline surge of strength to search for her to no avail. But there was no sign of Minna. She was gone. The pain of losing her entire family was overwhelming, and she had reached out to the Marium Kahnet leadership for comfort in her bereavement. She soon discovered that most of the leaders had been slaughtered as well. In an effort to squelch her paralyzing grief, she volunteered as a search and rescue team member. But the unrelenting cries of despair and unspeakable grief caused by so much loss, and the countless tiny lifeless bodies that littered the streets took its toll on her soul. The once strong towers of her will crumbled to dust. The foundations on which she had built her life were destroyed; now she was estranged, without hope and direction, as the beacons of wisdom that once guided her were snuffed out. Disoriented, she moved amongst the rubble of her life in a catatonic state, eventually making her way deep into the Badi Sered desert some distance from home. Her spirit completely broken, she walked aimlessly day after day among the dry and barren ravines. Occasionally, a breeze carrying the smell of destruction reinforced her state of mind and spirit. Jazrene couldn’t remember the last time she was hungry and her dry and painfully split lips cried out for water. She felt the cold shadow of death approaching—and in fact, a pack of Mongolu Raptors had begun stalking her—but she couldn’t bring herself to care. One day as she was staggering among the craggy rocks, and the heat of the sun relentlessly beat down on her water-deprived body, her vision began to blur. Crumpling onto the hard surface, her knees struck sharp rubble, and she let out a meager whimper. She pitched forward, harshly scraping and slicing her once beautiful complexion, completely lacking the strength to break her fall with her hands. She vaguely felt the scorching heat of the jagged rock against her already sun-burnt skin and moaned in pain. Blood dripped from her nostril to the side of her mouth. The metallic taste caused her stomach to heave involuntarily and she tried to spit it out. Hearing the creatures scrabbling in the cliff faces all around her as she lay at the bottom of a wide ravine, she forced her eyes open and waited for them to attack. No doubt the carnivores were excited by the smell of blood, and like a mirror of her life, they were ready to mercilessly rip her to pieces. Completely numb, her life began to slip from her. * I would like to thank Rockin’ Book Reviews for these opportunity to provide a guest post. ![]()

REVIEW by LAWonder10: This was a very well-written delightful tale with a Holiday setting. A very promising Chicago lawyer, Sam Hayes, approached her boss, threatening to quit, but Sean Flaherty, persuaded her to handle a law suit against his family business in a small town four hours away. It would give her a reprieve, plus, allow her to, possibly, "branch out" into other areas of the law. Other than a frustrating experience with a flat tire on a rainy evening, with no close roadside help, the town's people was like none other she had ever experienced. It was as if it were atown out of the 1950s. She had a 9:00 A.M. meeting with Sean's brother, Conor, to discuss the case and get some material to support their case. It was the most unexpected and unusual meeting Sam had ever experienced. One that would lead to a whole new outlook on life. It just wasn't what she had planned for her life. The characters felt so real and the plot scenes were very well-developed, which allowed the reader to feel a part of the story. It was somewhat predictable, yet had a few twists, to add interest for the reader. It was so well-written, that it easily kept the reader's interest. The Book Cover and Title were very "fitting". This was an uplifting read in anticipation of the Holiday Season. I offer Four and a Half Stars rating *This book was gifted me with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review. ![]()

REVIEW by LAWonder10: This is my new favorite Mexican cuisine cookbook! From a mild, simple and quick recipe like Mexican Tomato Salsa to more detailed recipes, such as, Boozy Queso Fundido, thee are recipes which will surely satisfy every type of cook and palette. I found the recipe for Arroz Con Pollo to be much better than the ones II previously used, along with useful information of what areas of Mexico and the U.S. the recipes evolved from, it also contains pantry, cooking method and other ideas, plus charts. The recipes are all easy to follow. There are just enough illustrations to add to the appealing, but I would have preferred more. I offer a Four Stars rating for this book. *This was sent as a gift with no urging for a positive review. This is my honest review. ABOUT the AUTHOR:
Hola! I'm Leslie Harris de Limón, creator and food blogger extraordinaire behind La Cocina de Leslie, author of Taquería Tacos, and maker of delicious Mexican food. Welcome to my cocina (kitchen)! I'm a 43 year old domestic goddess who loves to cook and bake. I was born and raised in sunny southern California, but for the past 17 years I've been living in a small town--about a 2-hour drive north of Guadalajara--in the heart of Mexico. I have loved to cook for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of watching my grandmother make homemade flour tortillas and her famous Shredded Pork Tamales , and of helping my abuelito (grandpa)--who was the baker in the family--dry our own orejones de manzana (apple slices) to make empanadas and/or capirotada (bread pudding). Having been raised around the foods my grandparents grew up eating in the Mexican states of Sonora and Chihuahua, I thought I knew just about everything there was to know about Mexican food. But it wasn't until I moved to Mexico that I learned that not all Mexican food is the same and that it varies from state to state and sometimes even region to region. With the help of my suegra(mother-in-law) I learned to cook the traditional Mexican dishes like Traditional Mexican Pozole Rojo and Carne de Puerco con Chile. Mexican food has always been an important part of my life. La Cocina de Leslie is a collection of the traditional Mexican recipes I've learned to make over the years and the Mexican-inspired meals I prepare everyday in my kitchen for my family, which includes 3 hungry teenagers and a college student. It's also a place to share my love of cooking in general. For me, this blog is about so much more than just Mexican food, it's a celebration of the rich culture and traditions Mexico has to offer and a way to share the memorable moments spent in la cocina with family and friends. Secluded Village Murders by Shelly Frome
Publisher:Boutique of Quality Books (September 1, 2018)|ISBN: 978-1945448201 Category: Transatlantic Cozy, Cozy Mystery | Tour dates: Oct-Nov, 2018 Available in Print and ebook, 339 pages Description Secluded Village Murder Written in the style of a classic English Mystery with a contemporary young American woman as the amateur sleuth. Entertaining. Keeps you guessing until the end. From a small secluded village in Connecticut to the English Countryside, readers are taken on a roller coaster of events and quirky characters as amateur sleuth Emily Ryder tries to solve a murder that everyone thinks was an accident. For tour guide Emily Ryder, the turning point came on that fatal early morning when her beloved mentor met an untimely death. It’s labeled as an accident and Trooper Dave Roberts is more interested in Emily than in any suspicions over Chris Cooper’s death. For Emily, if Chris hadn’t been the Village Planner and the only man standing in the way of the development of an apartment and entertainment complex in their quaint village of Lydfield, Connecticut, she might have believed it was an accident, but too many pieces didn’t fit. As Emily heads across the pond for a pre-scheduled tour of Lydfield’s sister village, Lydfield-in-the-Moor… she discovers that the murderer may be closer than she thought. Note: This book is a totally revamped version of “The Twinning Murders” with a different publisher. It is quite different from ‘The Twinning Murders’. You should enjoy this book even more!
MY REVIEW: LAWonder10)
This is a very good mystery/suspense with a touch of romance. The characters are very unique and a delightfully entertaining mix of diverse personalities. Emily Ryder had no time for anything extra in her life, especially not a relationship. There were problems brewing in the small community where her mother owned a B & B. Emily made sure her mother was busy "checking out" other B & B outside their community, so her mother would not be upset by the things which were threatening the future success of her business. There was some unscrupulous behavior among some community leaders. Emily felt it was, mostly, up to her to prove it and bring them to justice... but HOW? The entire plat keeps the reader guessing who the "bad guy" is until the end. I felt the writing was a little jumbled and,at times, confusing. It lacked the flow and compelling energy to truly bring the reader "into the story" so he/she felt more connected. The Book cover and Title were eye-catching and a good "fit". It was an enjoyable read, though, and the plot was outstanding. I offer a Three Stars rating for this novel. *This book was gifted to me with no requirement for a positive review. This is my honest review.
Praise Twinning Murders by Shelly Frome“There is a very eclectic cast of characters in this novel and the story reads fast. I enjoyed reading this mystery and I found that I was surprised at the ending. This is a story basically about money and greed.”-Kathleen Kelly, Celticlady Reviews “Shelly Frome does a great job of creating an interesting murder mystery around a hennas crime committed in a small New England village. He then takes it all the way across “The Pond” to England where he beautifully captured the essence of Dartmoor National Park and the moorlands of Devon. From the village fete to the sudden fog that can devour you upon The Moor, Shelly Frome creates a wonderful atmosphere in which to add intrigue and mystery. The story twists and turns and creates an interesting confluence of red herrings, doubts and suspicions until the end when you will be, as they say, “Gob smacked!” at who the murderer turns out to be. This book was fun and scary and full of great characters one of which is a wonderful golden retriever. Twinning Murders will give you a dose of a good old fashion murder mystery with a surprise ending.”- Me Minty, Amazon Review “Technically The Twinning Murders can be called a cozy as the profanity and violence are extremely minimal, the latter taking place primarily off-stage, and Emily is most definitely an amateur sleuth. Author Shelly Frome has also populated The Twinning Murders, on both sides of the Atlantic, with a wonderfully eccentric cast of characters. Unlike the cozies many readers are probably familiar with, however, The Twinning Murders has a genuine old fashioned, Agatha Christie-Miss Marple, British mystery feel to it, even though the bulk of the action takes place in Connecticut.”-Elizabeth A. White, elizabethwhite.com “If you enjoy playing detective, this book was written for you. As you venture along you’ll be entertained by folksy New England characters in contrast to the British blokes who serve up their own style of wit and smarts. Enjoy this reading excursion and see if you can figure out who done it and why! Well, Shelly Frome has done it again! He has set the scene and pace for an exhilarating chase through England and back to America.”- Herbert Siegel, Amazon Review ![]()

Doug Seegers left New York for Nashville in search of every songwriter’s dream. When he didn’t find success, he fell into a state of loneliness that fed an addiction he had battled since adolescence. Soon, he was homeless, playing his guitar on the street with a cardboard sign asking for money. But then he cried out to God in repentance and need, and God graciously met him. Doug then found sobriety, regained some footing, and in a miraculous moment was discovered outside a food pantry by a Swedish musician and documentarian who put his story on the air in Stockholm. Within days of the documentary airing--even though he still walked to the public library every day and acquired most of his belongings from nearby Dumpsters--Doug had the number-one selling song in Sweden. Going Down to the River is Doug’s inspirational story of faith, forgiveness, and the power of prayer and belief. It is also the never-give-up tale of a man who played music for 55 years without success only to become a chart-topping artist at the age of 62. MY REVIEW: (LAWonder10) ** spoiler alert ** This book is an interesting, true story, of a man's struggle trough youth into his late adult years. Doug Severs began childhood in a dysfunctional home-later it became a single parent home. He had an all-consuming desire to write and sing his own music. He participated in small bands playing and singing, mostly, "back-up" He tells of his struggles with drugs, and partying, which was the destruction of a lot of talented artists of the sixties and seventies era - even in today's world! He begins his tale by reflecting on that younger man (himself) and states, "I want to warn him never to take that first hit, never to taste that first drink...". If only all would adhere to this counsel. I like the statement he makes, "Dedication and detail don't always bring you closer to God, but doing good work sure does lift your Spirit". He speaks of a time he was arrested because he was with the wrong people at the wrong time. He was not totally free of guilt, but the main offenders escaped and he was left "holding the bag". Among many good points he makes, he tells of one's desire to put one's life in "reverse" and undo foolish mistakes. But what we can do is "put on the brake, and turn down the better road and change the direction your life is going. One of his final remarks in this story, he says, " When I was a kid, I wanted the fame and glory for myself. Now I wanted what fame I got to spread God's Word through my story." His fame came after he hit the final "bottom" of worthlessness. He was in his sixties. This is an inspiring story. It his highly recommended for book clubs. The story was written in a manner, st times, the reader was unsure for awhile, what time period he was in. It just felt awkward. For this reason I can only offer a Three and a Half Stars rating*This book was sent as a gift. It was not suggested I give a positive review. This is my honest review. ![]() About Doug SeegersA frequently homeless, 62-year-old singer-songwriter-guitarist gets discovered at a Nashville food pantry by a Swedish country music star, who helps him from the streets to superstardom in a country best known for Abba's "Dancing Queen" and the like. "What's Abba?" asks Doug Seegers, in a voice free of irony. Seegers isn't much into pop music. He grew up on the hard-country sounds of Hank Williams, and came to adore the heart-first country-rock that Gram Parsons made with the assistance of young harmony vocalist Emmylou Harris. Those influences are present on Seegers' remarkable two album, "Going Down To The River" and "Walking On The Edge of the World", fully realized versions of the music he has been making on Nashville streets for decades. Before that, he was making it in New York, Austin and other locales. "I've made a ton of money playing out in the street," he says, slight Southern flair dosing the accent of his Long Island youth and his post-grad years in the Big Apple, where he lived in abandoned buildings, "ate and breathed everything John Lennon" while playing for tips in downtown Manhattan. Guided by his guitar, he wound his way to Austin, Texas, where he became "Duke the Drifter" - a playful twist on Hank Williams' "Luke the Drifter" moniker, the name under which country's often-impaired superstar delivered Christian music and recitation. ![]()
Three Months to Change By Dinah Roseberry
Paranormal Romance | Paperback & ebook, 208 Pages September 26th 2018 by Visionary Living, Inc. Lenora was changing...not in any frightening way. At least, not at first. There was the intense ability to shield herself from abuse that was very empowering. But her other senses had become heightened as well, and that’s when she’d begun seeing scenes from the past, and smoky mists inside her home. Meeting Frankie in the midst of all this had been a wonderful treat—there weren’t many men who could stir her emotions as he was prone to do. Still, there was something strange about him, something she couldn’t put her finger on. Ah, well, desirable men with the air of mystery were compelling and fun. Weren’t they? And what about Rex? She wasn’t sure. He was part of a fearsome family, making her wonder if such tales of werewolves and monsters were true. Just how did she fit in? And why would she even want to? MY REVIEW: (LAWonder10)
This is a delightfully, relaxing compilation of four historical romance stories to start off the Holiday Season with a flair! The first, Love and Joy Come to You, is written by very talented Jennifer Moore. It is a fun tale about Lord Covington, a man who was thrust into Lordship, after the sudden illness and death of his father and sister. His main intent is to keep his mother company and protected from society during the Christmas Season. The pain of Christmas without her loved ones has been too hard to endure. Understandably, when Lord Covington returns home from extended business, he was annoyed to discover a very young lady in his library, perusing one of his books then boldly questioning him. He discovered she was one of three children accompanying their aunt to visit hos mother for the Holidays. He would not have these people preying on his mother's "soft heart"! What results is a very unexpected Christmas! The second book A Christmas Courting, is totally predictable from the beginning but is well-written so it is enjoyable to read. Author, Chalon Linton, writes about a young woman, who is sad because she will be missing Christmas in her home town. She is split between joy and forlorn when she discovered her childhood friend will be in London to court his new wife to be. She is so excited to see him but dreads the fact he will be courting someone else. The third story, Mistletoe Memories by Jen Geigle Johnson, is about a future Duke who is sent on an extended journey to take car of their family's business in India. He and Alice promised to wait for each other. Things do not go as planned leaving both feeling betrayed. Patrick is called home to take over the duties of a Duke when his father unexpectedly dies. His heart is breaking because he cannot have his one true love, but under the circumstances, it is simply impossible. He must find another. The fourth and last story in this novel, is Second-Chance Christmas By Heidi Kimball. Gerard was obligated to return home for the Holidays for his mother's annual Christmas traditions. He had no desire to be near is best friend, Francie, who had rejected his proposal earlier in the year. He had spent months with his university friend. Now he extended an invitation to his friend and mother to spend Christmas at his home. He should have known the "mother" would include her daughter. He was not wrong about the woman's intention. Perhaps he should make the best of it, since he couldn't have the girl he truly loved. The third book ended very abruptly, although the story was interestingly predictable. The book as a whole earns a Four Stars rating from me. *This book was gifted to me with no urging, whatsoever, for a positive review. This is my honest review.

MY REVIEW: (LAWonder10)
This is a perfect, "horror story" for this time of year! This is an eerily, dark tale of the sordid end to the earth. Orphaned, anti-social, born a chimera, and in his mid-life, AB's, seemingly ideal, life was about to change. At the beginning of his "vacation", AB got an urgent phone call from his closest, and lifelong friend and colleague, demanding he return to work immediately. A deadly virus had broke out! As his job as a virus researcher for the government, AB had no choice. The nightmare, which spiraled out of control, resulted. Would AB lose every attachment he had made on earth? Was there anyone else who was a chimera like him? When he could no longer deal with his "lot in life", a sudden enigma occurred. This is a "quick read", Sci-Fi tale. It is a unique "Armageddon-with-a-twist" type of story. The characters are limited but expressive and easily identified with. The scenes are very vivid. The Book Title is okay but not the most depicting of the story. The Book Cover, however, is perfect! Reader Beware: There is occasional profanity throughout the book and references to sexual situations. It, also, contains graphic devastation. As a well-written, creative tale, I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating. *This novel was a gift. I was not required to post a positive review. This is my honest review.
Praise for Deadly Ground by Thomas W. Starbuck and Judy Belshe-Toernblom “Great concept…makes you think. Could history be repeating itself? Fast read. Anxious for the sequel.”- Peggy Holder, Amazon“A really good book and definitely a page-turner. I really liked the characters which is so important to me when I read a book. And the story really makes you think a lot about the things that are going on around us throughout the world. This was a different type of book than I normally read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book has something for so many readers’ interests – some fantasy, some romance, some sci-fi. It’s also a quick read. I’m looking forward to the author’s sequel to ‘Deadly Ground’.”-Tamara, Amazon Review “Unique and wonderful on multiple levels. Told from a dog’s point of view, the tale of love, betrayal, and ultimate redemption is woven in a tapestry of beautiful description, colorful history and memorable characters. Set in the quaint town of Boonville, Anderson Valley, Northern California, the book resurrects Boontling, the valley-specific, and near- lost language of Boonville’s earliest settlers. It’s a great read that will draw you into the quieter, gentler times, captivate you with the lush scenery, prompt you to curse or cheer the townsfolk of 1800s Boonville.”- J. Helen Elza, Amazon “A touching story about the good and evil that is part of the human experience. The characters inspire one to think about forgiveness and redemption. Very engaging and beautifully written. Loved reading it. So good I wanted the story to continue!”-Garden Girl, Amazon ![]()

MY REVIEW: (LAWonder10)
This was an eerily fun "ghost story"! Upcoming, small town Michigan journalist, Anna Christiansen, finally got her break! She was assigned an interview with the lead singer of the Dickweeds, an ascending popular band. The only problem, when she arrived, her ticket wasn't their. Using her Journalist "savvy", she was able to get into the concert. Her next feat would be getting close enough to the band before they left at the end of the show... miraculously, her plan worked! Sadly, even after all her "pleadings" the lead singer refused to speak with her. Her tears and trembling lip began. The bass player, Aaron, took pity on her and agreed to an Interview. The interview went far better than Anna had planned. After an evening spent like she had never spent before, they decided to go to Vegas together, where Aaron lived and where it was "home" for the band. Aaron had to go "on the road" for a tour. Anna was stuck in Vegas in a cramped apartment, with a "socially challenged" roommate. When Aaron was able to escape his Tour, midway through it, Anna had new which changed all plans. After purchasing a "fixer-upper", Anna was faced with an unexpected house guest. There is no way she would share this experience with anyone! This is a fast-paced romance/mystery, with a touch of humor and paranormal. Ideally, it included a house the author's family actually once lived in! The characters are endearing - and some infuriating -, and the scenes are portrayed, in word, well. The Book Title and Image are both a clever "fit". ^*Reader beware: There is some profanity throughout the book and a sexual situation. I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating. *Although this book was gifted me, there was no requirement for a positive review. This is my honest review.
Praise House Always Wins: Vegas Ghost Story by Brian Rouff, Finalist, American Fiction Awards, Romance: Paranormal category “It’s pure Vegas, told from an insider’s perspective.”- Anthony Curtis, Huntington Press “A whirlwind romance leads an unlikely pair of newlyweds to Las Vegas, home of every dream and nightmare they can imagine―from predatory developers to a friendly ghost. Rouff spins a guilelessly winsome fable whose charming heroine needs to have everything from her ghost’s personal history to the ritual significance of her newborn’s bris explained to her―which means that the reader gets treated to all these explanations too.”-Kirkus Reviews “Paragraphs are replete with uproariously sarcastic similes, metaphors, and tongue-in-cheek comments. Narrative hooks, drama, unexpected openings, and cliffhanging chapter endings keep the story flowing. Complicated situations, including confrontations with neighbors and pressure from the casino, build to a significant and unanticipated climax. A fun read from beginning to end, The House Always Wins is an attractive romance with a unique ghostly touch.”-Clarion Foreword Reviews, 5 stars “Author Brian Rouff has dreamed up a fun little tale, which he describes in a release as “part coming-of-age saga, part mystery and part ghost story.” When it comes to Nevada stories, Rouff knows his stuff. He has lived in Las Vegas for more than 35 years and has also written the Las Vegas-based novels Dice Angel and Money Shot.”- C. Moon Reed, Las Vegas Weekly “Brian Rouff’s writing of The House Always Wins: A Vegas Ghost Story is impressive. It’s a charming, fast-paced story beautifully narrated by the main character, Anna. It contains wit, mystery, and a bit of nostalgia. Meyer reminisces about his racketeering life and how developed Las Vegas has become. Anna is a strong-minded person who possesses a sense of humour, even when her problems are serious. I thought the road trip was interesting, also the descriptions of the communities that had seen changes, for better or for worse. The author has shown the other side of Las Vegas in this must-read novel.”- Michelle Stanley, Readers’ Favorite ![]()

MY REVIEW: (LAWonder10)
The setting of this tale is the late nineteenth century. Socialite, Miss Anna Nicholson is contemplating her life, before her upcoming marriage to very wealthy, William Wilkinson. Anna, discovered she was adopted as a toddler, by her, now, struggling, yet socially accepted parents, the Nicholsons. The Pinkertons had recently discovered her maternal Grandmother, "Oma Geesje" living in a Dutch community in Michigan. She had spent time in the summer with her. She had, also met, and become friends with the neighbor man, Derk, finishing his University classes, before becoming a minister. Anna's "Oma", was approached by her minister son, Jakob, to take in a young woman for a few weeks until he could find them work and another place to live. Her father would be staying with Derk and his father across the road. Reluctantly, Geesje agreed. They didn't speak English, and few in the community knew the "old Dutch". Geesje was given the task of teaching the father and daughter English, as well as interpret for them in the community. Every spare room and home in the com unity wee being filled with immigrants flocking into America. In her search for further information, Anna may have got more than what she bargained for, including, her fiance's ex girlfriend's wrath! Should she just call the whole investigation off, for the sake of her beloved adoptive parents, and others she holds dear? This novel is very well written from the perspective of a few key individuals. It is full of suspense and intrigue, p,us, "stirs up" various emotions by the reader. Anna's dilemma is but one small portion of this story. Aspects of "society", immigration, and other challenges are addressed. It points out how many battled with their hearts vs social standing and obligations. The characters are so real, the reader "becomes a part of them". The scenes are equally easily visualized. The Book Cover and Title are a perfect "Fit" I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating*This book gifted me, came with no requirement for a positive review. This is my honest review.
Praise for the Book "Varying points of view, well-placed clues, and an interesting subplot about Anna's grandmother welcoming Dutch immigrants to Michigan keeps the story interesting. Austin skillfully embeds her strong spiritual message into the actions of her characters, creating a wonderful historical tale that is naturally inspirational."--Publishers Weekly starred review ![]()

GUEST POST: Where does the inspiration for your character development come from? How do you decide which is the best fit for this particular story?
Thanks for having me! The idea for Renegade came after writing Black Dawn and I knew I wanted to dive deeper in how the world of Kiero came to be in its current state. Writing these characters as teenagers instead of young adults was challenging and exhilarating and diving deeper into who they are individually. The inspiration for the development and characters comes from a lot of different things, starting with asking myself questions: What are their fears? Strengths and weaknesses? What do they like doing, where do they draw their inspiration from, how does their abilities make them stronger, or is it more of a weapon etc. After this, I really allow the characters to lead me down their path, all the while as the author thinking how they would respond to certain situations and seeing where that takes me. Renegade’s focus was always to show more of how Adair became the villain, and why, so everything else fell around me having the inspiration to write his story.

Destiny Fulfilled - Laire McKinney
This is a great romantic fantasy. I like the way the story unfolds. I love stories with fairies. Raigan and Wren have a unique kind of relationship. They were fun to get to know. All the character in the story are well-developed. It is easy to feel their emotions. The story flows well from chapter to chapter and is easy to follow along. There is sexual explicitness in this book. I really like the story line and recommend this book to others. I give this a literary rating of 5/5 ![]()
