Dream Of Me This Christmas Eve (Star Light ~ Star Bright #4) By L.A. Sartor
Contemporary Romance, Christmas | ebook, 127 Pages | December 1st 2018
Book "BLURB":
Boulder, Colorado, attorney Maximillian Henderson III is in a bind. His new law office won’t open on schedule unless he finds immediate help to finalize his building’s renovation.
Award-winning designer Caroline Young is visiting Boulder for a family wedding and has promised to stay through Christmas. Meeting Max at the wedding and hearing his problem, she accepts his plea for help. But if she can make him see past his own nose, she could make it even better.
Creating a new design only works if she commits to staying longer. By doing so, she puts her heart and her treasured independence at risk.
Max is aware her life and business are in California, and a long-term relationship is impractical. Still she adds vibrancy to his plain black and white world, and his dream of her on Christmas Eve convinces him to try.
On Christmas Day, Caro reveals that she must return home for a vital meeting, breaking her promise and his heart.
Max has new plans for his office but no Caro. Can he convince her to return to him and find a way to meld their lives?

Feel this? Seriously, she wanted him to do what? After that sigh, he wasn't sure he should. “Why are you so excited about an afghan?”
“Not just any old afghan, this one is vicuña. Seriously, feel it.”
If he hadn't reached out to take it from her, the throw would have fallen to the floor, and Max had an idea that would have been akin to sacrilege in Caro's eyes.
Despite himself, he held it up to his cheek. Soft, supple … Whoa, his thoughts were spinning in wild directions, all because of the woman sitting in front of him. “Nice.”
“Nice? Do you know what vicuña is?”
“Nope, can't say that I do.”
“It's the wild relative of the llama. Pretty rare these days. The Incas believed the critters were reincarnations of lovely young maidens, so only Incan royalty were allowed to wear the fleece. Their wool is incredibly expensive. Nevertheless, I'd love to find some.”
Max handed her back the throw, only to see her again bury her face into its softness. And damn if his body didn’t heat up a few degrees thinking about her nuzzling his neck with the same passion. Sucking in a lungful of the chilly air wafting through the front door cleared his mind. Just. “First, how do you know all this? And second, what would you do with the wool if you were to find and then afford it?”
“First, I love random facts. My teachers hated that, especially when I spouted off in class, answering a question with a fact or even another question.”
“And yet you were valedictorian of your high school class. Phi Beta Kappa, and magna cum laude at university.”
“How’d you know?”
“Brice. He talks about you all the time.”
“Oh, did he tell you that I knit?” She gestured Vanna White style to the sweater still topping her maid-of-honor gown.
Max felt his brows rise in surprise, and there was nothing he could do to stop his obvious reaction to her last reveal. Knitting seemed like such an old-fashioned art for a free spirit like Caro.  He prided himself on reading people—it was one of the traits that made him a successful attorney. Yet Caro, in the past few hours, delivered him one surprise after another. His interest level in her ratcheted up and went beyond his physical attraction.
If she agreed to his plan, this could be an interesting week ahead, matching wits and wherever anything else led. “You read structural and interior design plans, right?”
“I create design plans for structural engineering. So yes.”
“My designer has the flu and can't finish the work on my new office building. I could use your expertise to help complete the final phase so it's open by the new year.”
“I'm not really an interior designer.”
“It's a bit more than that.”
“How much more?”
She pulled the afghan up on her lap a little higher and he realized the draft continued.
“Hold on a sec, I’m going to see if the door was left open. It’s letting in minus-degree cold.”
Everyone had left the house. He closed the slightly ajar door, feeling instantly warmer, then returned to Caro and perched on the sofa’s arm.
“Okay, so you’re not an interior designer. And you asked how much more.”
She nodded, then poured a bit more champagne into her glass and sipped.
“The building is old and I’m having a lot of work done to the interior. And some new windows added. And—"
He stopped when she held up her hand. Uh oh.

I started writing as a child, really. A few things happened on the way to becoming a published author … a junior high school teacher who told me I couldn’t write because I didn’t want to study … urk … grammar. I went to college, moved a few times, came home and found the love of my life (that is another novel worthy story, but for later), and got married.
We were super busy with our respective careers, mine a custom jewelry business with my mom, who was also teaching metalsmithing at the time, and my husband a crazy law career. We had two fur babies, Fudge (and briefly her brother Smudge, but sadly he didn’t live very long) and Two. Our cats would sleep with us and when they’d stretch out to their full length, we’d end up sleeping on the edge of the mattress.
I have always been a voracious reader and one night after throwing a particularly bad book at the wall (even putting a small ding in said wall), I realized that I could do better. I told my husband, and he said go for it. I called Mom and she revealed the junior high teacher story and she told I’d been writing all the time up to that point.
That blew me away. I didn’t remember any of it. But I started writing again, nearly the next day, pen and paper, learning, making mistakes, winning contests, nearly getting an agent, becoming disenchanted with the publishing industry and moving away from novel writing to screenwriting, getting a contract for a script and doing really well in screenwriting contests.
But none of that was making me much money. After numerous scary robbery drills I wanted to move away from my bank job (yes, this is many years later and a lot of stuff in between) and write full time for the green stuff.
My husband told me repeatedly that independent publishing was becoming a valid way to publish a novel and people were making big dollars. I didn’t believe him even after he showed me several Wall Street Journal articles. I thought indie meant vanity press.
I couldn’t have been more wrong.
I started pursuing this direction seriously, retired from the bank and hit the keyboard, learned a litany of new things and published my first novel. My second book became a bestseller, and while I’m not rolling in dough, I’m absolutely on the right course in my life.
So if you have a dream, pursue it as hard as you can. Life can get in the way, but never give up.

Book Description:
Rhodesia runs through the forest, hunted by creatures wearing the faces of people she loves. They plead to her to wait in the voices of her family, and the sound sends chills down her back. What is worse? Succumbing, and becoming a mindless drone with the others, or perishing in the forest, alone?
Roy Planter is a man with a mission, and he has no intention of staying on a plague-ridden planet where more humans turn into mindless drones every day. Being stuck in a city, grouped with a sword-wielding stick insect of a man and a busty blonde with a too vivid sense of humor are only temporary setbacks. He's leaving, first chance he gets. At least that's what he thinks until Rhodesia arrives.
Caring for someone will not make his life easier, but can he really leave her behind?

Excerpt:
How could such a small building have so many stairs?
A soft shuffling noise caught Rhodesia’s attention. It was too stealthy to be anyone she knew.
Had the Nats made it in here? They could have been waiting.
Alone and unarmed. Great.
She jogged down the corridor as quietly as she could. Maybe they wouldn’t see her if she got around the corner.
Planter stepped out of the shadows, surprising her. She almost yelped and gave them away.
He slammed an arm around her waist and pulled her into a small closet. She had to press herself against him to fit in the nook, but at the moment physical closeness came second to brewing panic.
Were they close?
How would it feel to be assimilated?
Would anything of her own self remain?
Her imagination painted out a process of melting, her mind losing cohesion, memories and identity vanishing, and becoming a part of a new whole; the whole of the machine.
“Shh.”
He pulled her closer, clearly trying to get her attention, and she realized she was breathing with noisy puffs of air. Planter hushed her again and she buried her face against his chest to quiet her panting.
He might not like having her close, but he’d just have to live with it.

About the Author:
Maria Hammarblad is a Swedish author and bass player whose fascination with books started early. Before she could read or write, she made her mother staple papers together to resemble books. She drew suns in them and claimed they were "The Sun Book". They were all about the sun. The four-year old also claimed her existence on Earth was a mistake, the result of a horrible mix-up, and that her real family would come to bring her home to her own planet at any time. This didn't happen, but her fascination with books and other worlds stayed with her.

Besides novels, she also writes award-winning screenplays, enjoys photography, and works with animal rescue organizations.

Twelve Months of Awkward Moments - Lisa Acerbo
I liked this story for the eye opening situations that real people have to deal with in their lives. Anxiety is such a big part of growing up and having other issues to deal with on top of that can really pile on the pressure. I can totally relate to Dani's life. I love that she has
loyal friends. They are great.
The characters are all well-developed and it's easy to feel their emotions.
The story flows well from chapter to chapter. It is easy to follow along.
*Reader Beware: There is profanity and sexual explicitness in this book.

I give it a literary rating of 4.5/5

From Ash and Stone by Julie Daines Paperback, 240 pages | ISBN: 1524407461 (ISBN13: 9781524407469)
Expected publication: December 1st 2018 by Covenant Communications, Inc.
SYNOPSIS:
Lady Margaret Grey of Hartfell wants for nothing. The daughter of a knight, she has a loving family, wealth, and even a secret romance with the blacksmith's son. But all that is torn from her one fateful night when her home is attacked and her family killed. She is left with nothing but bitterness, an unwavering mistrust of men, and a strange and mysterious curse that allows her to feel the thoughts of anyone who touches her.
Now, after six years away, Margaret is returning home for one reason: revenge. She hopes that by avenging her family's deaths, she will somehow be freed from her curse. But it won't be easy. The identities of the raiders are still unknown, she has little left to her name, and traveling alone in the Northumbrian hills during the border wars is dangerous. Matters are further complicated by handsome Angus Robson, a Scotsman whose charm threatens to distract her from her plans. But the raiders are closer than she knows, and Margaret soon realizes that what she believed to be a curse may be the key to finding those she seeks. One touch will reveal the truth.

My Review: (LAWonder10)
Lady Margaret Grey, once the Lady of Hartfell - no longer a "Lady" after the fateful night, six years prior, when her whole family was ripped away from her by "Border War" scoundrels -, is now back to seek revenge. After six long, degrading years, she has finally made enough "coin"  to make it back to claim the home that was once hers. Within a short way from her home, she was awakened and caught off-guard by three scoundrels. How could she be so careless to have left her sword far enough away, she could not reach it? One of them was dumping out her only belongings and "coin"! She didn't have much but what was there was hers!
Two held her pinned down. She would rather die than to be accosted by such slime! Fighting with everything within her, she felt she was losing the battle when suddenly an arrow flew through the air and struck one of the men. Four men on horses appeared and saved her, but she was not willing to be beholding to any man.
Her "savior" sent two men on ahead, while he and his younger brother -who was mute- insisted on accompanying her to her "Home", and abandoned, crumbling estate.
This is a wonderful story of a young woman, who is filled with regret, bitterness and a revengeful attitude, and an honorable man, struggling with the conflicts of war and survival, plus, in defense of his beloved brother.
This tale was so well-written and captivating, it could easily become a new "fantasy favorite"!
Although set during the time of "knights in shining armor", it offers the message of the hopelessness of revenge and the "follies" of war. It is a book the reader will find difficult to put aside.
This is a wonderful, adventure/fantasy/love story!
I offer a Five Stars rating.
*This book was gifted me, with no suggestion of a positive review. This is my honest review.

Book Details:
Book Title: The Ghost by Henry Kellerman
Category: Adult Fiction, 266 pages | Genre: Mystery/ Thriller, Historical Fiction
Publisher: Barricade Books | Release date: August 7, 2018
Tour dates: Nov 26 to Dec 14, 2018
Content Rating: PG-13 (I feel it should be rated R because of much strong profanity)

Book Description:
Assassinations, a love story, a kidnapping, and many twists and turns characterizes this riveting novel of historical fiction, circa 1958, thirteen years post World War II.
Events are uncovered where The Ghost, a powerful Vatican Bishop, is sending assassins to retrieve a secret tailpiece – a hidden extension of the 1942 Wannsee Conference Papers that underpinned the Holocaust against Jews. Only two copies of this tailpiece remain where names of thousands of high level Nazis such as Eichmann and Mengele are listed along with their future destinations – should Germany lose the war.
At the same time, New York City detectives working with British M16 secret service, and Israeli Mossad agents, get Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal and his group, (including an Israeli sanctioned killer) involved in order to find and send the crucial coded microfilm to England’s renowned decryption center. Now, in 1958, these Jewish Nazi hunters will not forgive and not forget.

This story is newsworthy testimony regarding the villains who are actual historical figures and are named. Fitting it all together (as in the screenplay based on the story titled: “We Will Find You,”) is the avenging drama of the novel.

Stay by Jennifer Silverwood
Paperback, 232 pages
Published June 3rd 2013 by SilverWoodSketches (first published February 13th 2013)
ISBN: 1484116895 (ISBN13: 9781484116890)
Sometimes, love isn’t as magical as people expect it to be… Rona believes love is nothing more than a myth, a tale for little girls. As the oldest daughter, she knows duty and family honor as well as the difference between salt and cinnamon. Until the immortal ruler of the seas appears from thin air and she is swept into a dark and dangerous affair. What was formerly myth soon becomes part of the everyday. And Rona believes when Seid tells her they will be together forever.

But forever is a long time and after she betrays him, what was supposed to be an eternity in paradise becomes an eternity in hell. Now she is cursed, unable to feel human emotions except through the couples she is led to save.

Two thousand years is an awfully long time to live alone. And the business of love saving isn’t what it used to be. By the twenty-first century, love has become an illusion as grandiose as magic and Rona’s ready to give up. Until the night she is seen by a human. Deep in the underbelly of the city that never sleeps, she recognizes him instantly. He may dress differently and have gained a few new scars, but she would recognize the face of her former lover in any lifetime. Trouble is, he seems to have no memory of her and he and his ex-girlfriend are the ones whose true love she’s meant to save.

But when he starts to fall for her, she is forced to learn what it means to be human all over again. Past and present come full circle in this tale of love, forgiveness and woe.

MY REVIEW: (LAWonder10)
Rona thought people didn't really have a choice to fall in love. Then, the man her father "sold" her to, was not only much older but cruel. She escape into the arms of another, but soon discovered, real love can be very painful, too.
Now she is cursed forever!
Two millennia later, Rona has a totally new experience, and does not know if this is some cruel joke or reality.
The key characters are portrayed well and the scenes are easily visualized. The "new" book Cover and Title depict the story very well. I especially love the new cover.
This was a very difficult book for me to rate. It took me awhile to "get into it" but then it captivated my interest in a manner, I found difficult to put it down. It is a slightly unique tell which requires some concentration, but is well worth it in the end.
It does contain some sexual situations and some profanity I

I conclude with a Four Stars rating.
*This book was gifted me with nor requirement of a positive rating. This is my honest review.

Glorious Truths About Mary, Mother of Jesus by Susan Easton Black
  • Publisher: Covenant Communications, Inc. (November 1, 2018)
  • ISBN-10: 1524408700 | ISBN-13: 978-1524408701 | Paperback: 96 pages
  • Synopsis (per Amazon):
Throughout the world, millions of devout followers of Christ look to the Virgin Mary as a sacred figure, a woman to be revered and worshiped. While Latter-day Saints do not worship this chosen vessel of the Lord, we do esteem Mary as one of the most influential people in history. Her faithfulness changed the course of the world, but even so, much detail of her life remains unknown to most. In Glorious Truths about Mary, Mother of Jesus, readers are invited to join distinguished LDS scholar Susan Easton Black on a journey of discovery spanning the life and legacy of this unparalleled faith-filled giant. Discover, through scriptural and historical sources, the compelling look at how Mary, mother of Jesus, has been characterized over the centuries and the true story and lasting influence she has had—this woman whose incomparable example continues to guide and inspire religious women today.

MY REVIEW (LAWonder10)
Author/Speaker Susan Easton Black always does a very thorough job in researching information sources before she publishes or speaks on any subject.
This account of Mary, Mother of Jesus, brings in various possibilities, obtained by several sources of what her life as the chosen mother of the Savior of all mankind, was truly like. She delves into ancient Jewish traditions to explain much of Jesus upbringing.
The experiences of her raising Jesus is very interesting and leaves the reader with much to meditate on.
The sources of scripture and historical traditions, leaves the reader with a greater understanding and belief in this marvelous woman of history.
The account "flows smoothly" and is never boring.
I offer a Five Stars rating for this non-fiction book.
*This book was gifted me with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review.
