To fulfill her mother's last request, twenty-four-year-old historic design specialist Catherine Pressley-Coombes travels to England in order to investigate an elusive family line. Armed with an illegible diary, she is determined to discover the identity of her mysterious ancestress. Distracted by an Elizabethan manor and unused to British country roads, Catherine runs her car into a ditch. Luckily, Nick Davidson, a handsome, hard-working local rides in on his tractor to save the day. As the down-to-earth manager of his family's estate, Nick also happens to be one of England's most eligible aristocrats.
Nick is certainly not the kind of man Catherine would fall for a man dogged by media and rumor. So why does she find the English lord so irresistible? Even though she can't overlook their differing values and beliefs, as she and Nick spend time together, their attraction deepens. While she battles through romantic turmoil, Catherine is beleaguered with far more sinister concerns: a series of unexplainable misfortunes that are not mere accidents. With her heart on the line, Catherine discovers her life is in jeopardy, and she has no idea who the perpetrator is but she has a growing suspicion that the danger might be connected to whatever secrets lie hidden in her ancestor's diary.
REVIEW by LAWonder10:
This was a remarkably well-written debut novel by a talented new author, Paige Edwards.
In this outstanding story of an American family's determination to fulfill the mother's last wish of finding her English ancestors. The only daughter, Catherine, sails to England to research her mother's kinfolk. Her brother, Jack, was working in the same area that the last known place their distant grandmother lived, While navigating the English roadways, Catherine glanced over a field, just as a slippery curve came to view. Unfortunately, she could not react quickly enough to avoid sliding into a ditch. The farmer who owned the property was on his tractor. He came over and introduced himself, Nick Davidson, and offered to pull them out. Since there was only room on the tractor for one other person, he suggested she walk to a nearby pub, tell a man there he is needed, and they would arrive shortly later with her brother in tact. Little did either know how the next few months would affect both of their lives!
This story-line will not go as the reader expects. There are so many twists, adventure, mystery and intrigue, and the reader will surely find it difficult to put the book down before the last page.
Toward the end of the book, it has subject matter important to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It is not of a nature a non-member would feel "lost" in nor distract from the tale.
The characters seem so real as does the events. The author has artfully portrayed the people and scenes so they are easily visualized.
The Title and Book Cover were chosen very well.
I offer a Five Stars rating for this book.

Catherine's Intrigue - Paige Edwards
What a wonderful story. I love everything about it. The characters are awesome and well-developed. It is easy to feel their emotions. I love the Presley-Coombes family and their strong conviction to live their religion. Also the fun and closeness they share. It has a perfect romance with NIck and Catherine. And of course the setting of the story and the geneology is fabulous. I also love the suspense in this book. It kept me glued to the pages.
The story flows well from chapter to chapter and is easy to follow and hard to put down.
I highly recommend this awesome book to everyone who loves a great suspense novel with an amazing love story and interesting history.
I give this book a literary rating of 5+/5
