REVIEW by LAWonder10:
Charlotte was torn from her little brother after they witnessed the horrible deaths of their parents and many others. For some reason, she and her brother were spared and sold to slavers. She had endured endless abuse but would survive for her brother's sake. She promised she would find him and she would... somehow.
One stormy night, her slavers were distracted and she was able to escape. She found a man's outfit hanging on a line and quickly traded her dress for it. She cut her long, golden, locks, put on a cap and sought work on a ship as a boy. Through her determination and tenacity, she was able to secure a position on a ship which would take her to New Orleans where her brother was, most likely, taken to.
Captain Alden Thatcher couldn't believe his first mate and the others, couldn't see this was no boy but a girl. As he was about to dismiss her, her captures approached his ship determine to search it for the missing girl. He would never allow those filthy scoundrels to take her so went along with her ruse, expecting the worse.
This is an amazing tale of the perseverance and bravery of a young woman, determined to prove herself in order to find her young brother.
It is, also, about the comradery of a loyal ship crew with each other and their captain, during a contemptuous time of American history before the Revolutionary War documents were signed and acknowledged.
The author's notes at the end of the book adds great tidbits of, little known, historical facts.
The characters were so realistic, as were the scenes. The reader was easily "brought into" the story. There was constant adventure and action from the beginning page to the very end.
This was very well written. The various scenes smoothly flowed one to the other.
The Book Cover and title were a perfect "fit".
I offer a Five Stars rating for this novel.

Charlotte's Promise - Jennifer Moore
I absolutely love this story! It is very well-written. I also love the history in the story and appreciate the time and effort put into the research.
The characters are fabulous. I adore Charlotte. She is the type of character everyone wants to be like. Someone who is always thinking and doing things for others. Alden is also a wonderful character along with all of his deck hands. It is easy to feel their emotions and to picture yourself there with them.
The story flows well from chapter to chapter and is easy to follow along.
I highly recommend this to all those who love a great historical and beautiful romance story.
I give it a literary rating of 5/5
