Holly St. Ives is in a rut. Once a celebrated artist making waves in New York City, she finds herself uninspired and unmotivated. Her recent break-up is the last push she needs to spend Christmas alone in the small mountain cabin her father left her in his will—a family getaway she hasn’t visited in years.
After a near accident in Silverwood, she meets Nick, whom she learns is responsible for everything in the small town running like clockwork—including the upcoming Christmas festival and the town’s entry in the state-wide tree decorating contest. Holly doesn’t have time for Nick’s beguiling charm or mouth-watering holiday cupcakes, but after meeting his father, she discovers there’s more to the town’s obsession with the contest than meets the eye.
Touched by the prospect that the whole town is willing to pitch in for a good cause, Holly can feel her Christmas spirit making a comeback as Nick—and his team of Alaskan Malamutes—works his way into her heart to show her the meaning of Christmas again.

Dream Book Launch Party for Christmas in Silverwood
Ah, to have a book launch party. It’s a dream of mine, of course, but since I live “across the pond” in Europe, and we’re living in uncertain times of the pandemic, it’s more likely to remain a dream at this point instead of reality.... But we can dream, right?
There are so many cool aspects of Christmas in Silverwood that could be incorporated into a dream book launch party. I mean, first of all, it’s a Christmas book, so that alone is a solid basis for a fun party theme.
I’m imagining a bookstore as the venue. Twinkling lights, garland, and decorative snow, holiday tunes floating on the air, and everyone dressed in Christmas sweaters. In the story, Holly’s love interest owns a baked goods restaurant, and Nick is pretty skilled at Christmas cupcakes. So it goes without saying that those delectable cupcakes would be displayed in towers—Christmas-tree-shaped towers, perhaps—throughout the store. And of course there would be cookies and gingerbread and Nick’s famous hot chocolate, complete with whipped cream, sprinkles, and a candy cane. Maybe they’re being served by folks dressed up as elves, just for kicks.
We could start with a reading from the book, where readers could cozy up by a fireplace, treats in hand, enthralled with the sparks igniting between Holly and Nick. Then a book signing, where readers could also acquire a nice book tote with one of Holly’s paintings as the design.
Let’s take things a step further and imagine there’s a skating rink outside the store to mirror a certain scene in the book. Beside a beautifully-decorated tree, a fun photo op on a grand sleigh for those Instagrammers and TikTokkers.
And then there are the dogs. I’m not sure obtaining nine Alaskan Malamutes is feasible, but it’s a dream party, right? So, why not! If all else fails, I can have my two Huskies pop in as substitutes.
All in all, what would really make it my dream book launch party is having a full venue of readers joyfully anticipating reading my book. That’s what it all comes down to: sharing my story with the world. Thankfully, that’s one aspect of this “dream” that I am able to do.
