BOOK REVIEW by LAWonder10:
Maya had fled as far away from home as she could after the cruel words from the man she had planned on spending the rest of her life with. Now, after many years, she was given an assignment to spend her summer there, leasing to a promotion and her dream job. This was good, right? It would give her a chance to visit her grandmother, who had determined she could no longer travel so far to visit her granddaughter.
After the tragic accident that took the life of his sister, causing him to drive away the "love of his life", Caleb witnessed the deterioration of his parents marriage. He abruptly joined the Army Special Forces. After serving in Afghanistan, he had gained a much different perspective of life. With the reoccurring nightmares and guilt, his life was a mess! He returned home to his families, once prosperous ranch, only to discover his father had let it fall to ruin, and had moved away. Now, Caleb would need a small miracle to save it. He pulled all his resources together to delay foreclosure, but if he didn't have a prosperous season, he would loose everything. The main problem was, he could not afford to hire help so the rebuilding and producing a substantial increase was all dependent on him, alone.
When Maya witnessed the deterioration of Caleb's ranch, through her guilt and strong feelings for Caleb, she wanted to use her education and knowledge to help, but how could she ever get him to accept it, when he made it clear he never wanted to see her again?
This is a, somewhat predictable drama, but very well-written, with a couple of interesting "twists". The reader is sure to "fall in love" with the characters. The background scenes are also portrayed in a way it is easy to visualize.
This is a great "Summer read"!
The title is well-chosen and the Cover pleasantly depicts the story.
I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating*This book was gifted me with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review.

Claire McEwen lives by the ocean in Northern California with her family and a scruffy, mischievous terrier. When not dreaming up new stories, she can be found digging in her garden with a lot of enthusiasm but, unfortunately, no green thumb. She loves discovering flea-market treasures, walking on the beach, dancing, traveling and reading, of course!
