GUEST POST: Kelly on Writing her First Book... As a child I loved to write. As I grew up my passion for words fell to the wayside, because well, life happened. I had my oldest son in high school, so instead of working on my passion, I had to work on being a mom, student, and a proper donut server. Throughout the years of being a mom and wife, I tried to write as much as I could but again, life. So after my toxic relationship I seemed to have some time to think and be alone. I began to write, I was first published in 2015 for an online magazine. Once I tasted the flavor of seeing my name and my words published, I knew I had to continue to write, and I did. Now with the release of my debut novel, Signs in the Rearview Mirror : Leaving a Toxic Relationship Behind, I feel I have accomplished a dream I never thought possible. I am what I call an uneducated author. After high school, which iI barely passed, I attended one semester of community college. I still feel I have holes in my education, but I write with what I know and how I feel. The words pour out of my fingers as if they are glasses of water being tipped over. At times I can't stop the flow and at other times I am as dry as unbuttered burned toast. But I am living the life I have always wanted. I may got to it in a roundabout way, but I got here nonetheless and I am grateful each day for my gift of words. ![]()
