by Heidi Catherine

Publication date: March 19th 2018
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance

Synopsis:Can she learn to forgive before her time runs out again? Or will the truth destroy her?
Maari doesn’t care that Nax is an outcast. She’s drawn to him in a way she can’t explain, determined to teach him to embrace the strange world they live in. But just as his heart opens wide, a force greater than them threatens to tear them apart.
Nax and Maari travel to the depths of the ocean to visit an old woman known as the Truthseeker. She unravels the mystery behind their connection, and warns them to run as far away from each other as they can. But staying away isn’t possible when you’ve found the person who brings your soul to life.
Far away, two sisters are born into extreme poverty, quickly discovering the key to their survival is their strength together. It isn’t until one sister threatens to steal away the love of the other that their bond shatters, and a true struggle for survival begins.
As these two stories merge into one, we learn that when soulmates meet, there’s nothing that can keep them apart. Except love.
The Truthseeker is the stunning continuation of The Soulweaver, winner of Romance Writers of Australia’s Emerald Pro award.

EXCERPT THREE –
A dark figure appeared at the end of the tunnel. She hesitated. Should she walk on or turn back?
Were all dark figures ominous? Surely some dark figures were made from innocent civilians
making their way home. She walked on.

As she drew closer she saw it was a woman wrapped in a long cloak. Her dark hair was wild,
flying around her face in such a manner it appeared to be creating the wind and not merely being
disturbed by it.

She wasn’t young, yet she was far from old, her skin still taut, despite the creases that lined the
corners of her eyes.

Aashi knew she shouldn’t stare, but her eyes were drawn to this woman. And she was scrutinising
Aashi with the same fascinated look dancing in her eyes.

Years of having to protect herself from danger drove her feet forward. She went to pass the
woman, dropping her gaze to the ground.

‘Do you seek the truth?’ the woman said as she passed.

The fact she’d spoken to her in Hindi had gone unnoticed, so distracted was Aashi by her fear
She pressed on, breathing a heavy sigh when she passed safely.

Pain shot down her arm as a set of bony fingers took hold of her.

‘Vikram,’ she screamed, out of habit. This was the name she’d called all her life when she was in
danger—only he wasn’t here to help her now. Nobody was here. Was this her punishment for
what she’d done to Tara? Was this how the universe had decided to deal with her?

‘Do you seek the truth?’ the woman said smiling, still holding firm to her arm. Her voice was
kind. It had a smile in it. It didn’t seem the voice of anyone who meant her harm. Yet the grip on
her arm was anything but friendly.

‘Please let go of me,’ she begged.

‘Then you’ll run away.’

Aashi shook her head, knowing the minute she was released, she’d run.

‘Nikii sent you,’ said the woman.

‘You are her friend?’ Aashi was astonished. This strange woman couldn’t possibly be Nikii’s
friend. Nikii wouldn’t send her to stay with someone like this, would she? It didn’t make sense.

The woman withdrew her hand, sensing she’d no longer run.

Aashi rubbed her arm. It was going to bruise, yet that was the least of her concerns.

‘Everyone is my friend,’ said the woman. ‘You included. Now, it’s time for introductions. You
are Aashi, yes?’

Aashi nodded. ‘Who are you?’

‘I am the Truthseeker.’

‘The Truthseeker?’

‘Come,’ she said. ‘We have so much to talk about.’
