REVIEW By LAWonder10:
This was a very good story about a man reflecting over his life. It delved into the good and bad time, his weaknesses and strengths. events and opportunities which changed his paths in life.
He also mentioned the influences that past generations had on him for good and to his detriment. He emphasizes a strong belief that it was all inn God's plan.
As he reflects on phases of his life, much is brought to mind, for many readers, similarities in his/her own life or those who are closely connected.
One thing which was reinforced i my mind is the mention on how he was artistic, thus, belittled by not only peers but men in his own family. They indicated he was not a real man, nor could he provide for a family, with those type of skills. He soon began fighting and doing things other than what he really loved to prove himself to be a man and successful.
He experienced many of life's hard trials, from poverty, and tragedies to the American dream of much success, plus all the experiences in between.
There are many emotional moments and the stories are are all very interesting. My main problem with the book was it was hard to envision what phase of life he was in. He fluctuated between as and present and he didn't always clarify what part of life he was in when the events took place.
This is fiction, yet much of it parallels the author's life. It would be gratifying to know which parts were real.
I offer a Three and a Half Stars rating.
*This book was gifted me with no pressure for a positive review. This is my honest review
