Through the Waters and the Wild by Greg Fields
In addition to exploring topics such as the Irish American experience today and the impact of the Irish Civil War, Fields also grapples with key existential questions and explores themes including: Discovery of purpose by stripping away the expectations of others. It takes great courage and self-awareness to strip away the expectations of others and listen to the inner voices that define who we really are. Exile of both place and character. In bowing to the expectations of others and the pressures of conformity, everyone runs the risk of exile. Redemption after exile. The process of redemption which comes at last through a recognition of one’s most basic and fundamental purpose. A single event, an accidental meeting, the press of a stranger’s hand might trigger a revelation, and that revelation might uncover new clues of purpose, place and passion. As we are all exiled in some measure from who we truly are and are meant to be, we all carry within us the potential for return. The haunting of past mistakes. How do we reconcile ourselves to those mistakes? Do we dwell on damage done or the bruises we ourselves suffered? What are the contours of forgiveness, and is self-forgiveness the most significant form of penance for what we’ve done wrong? AMAZON ~ ![]()

About the Author
A.H. Edelman is the author of The Little Black Dress and Manless in Montclair. The mom of two was reading the business section of the Sunday New York Times when she saw a story about protecting Santas from COVID-19 this year. Edelman thought about how, in 2020, children have had to adapt to new holiday traditions and celebrations nearly all year long. “Kids already couldn’t celebrate Easter, they sat out most of the summer and Halloween. They’re really going to want to see Santa for Christmas, or at least be assured he’s still coming,” she adds. Going beyond mask-wearing and social distancing, Santa in a Snow Globe also touches on issues the world is facing today, including climate change and protests. However, Edelman’s Santa still shares a positive message of hope and the importance of appreciating the simpler things in life. “As a parent myself, I can understand people asking, is this really the news we want to share with our children? And my answer is, ‘Yes, we have to!’ They already know something is up. But the fact is I’m also an optimist. I’m a grown Jewish woman who believes in Santa and happy endings. So, of course, Santa will show up on Christmas Eve, but before he does, he has a few words to say about what he sees happening in the world and what matters most.” She lives in Montclair, NJ. ~ Amazon Page ~ Instagram ![]() One Lucky Winner will receive a Print Copy of each of the Two books highlighted above! The first novel by international best-selling author and spiritual teacher Teal Swan, Hunger of the Pine is a compelling exploration of one young woman's struggle with homelessness. Aria Abbott has never had a home. Drifting through the foster system for most of her life, she finally finds herself in a situation so unbearable that she has no choice but to run away. Sleeping on the streets pushes Aria beyond any suffering she has felt before; the only thing worse than seeing no escape is the knowledge that no one in the world cares enough to try and find her. Enter Taylor, a homeless young man with a charismatic smile and a dream of fame, fortune, and the sunshine of LA. Swept up in his energy, Aria and Taylor board a greyhound bus and never look back. In this bright new world, Aria will discover a whole community of people living in the shadows, in the margins of society. As Taylor follows his dreams, Aria follows her heart. But she will discover that it isn't always clear who you can trust, that strangers can be kind, or treacherous, or sometimes as familiar as your own reflection, if you're willing to look hard enough. The Second book is a newly released story for Young Adults, addressing "Fractures" often experienced in life. Book is graciously presented by Smith Publicity, Inc ![]()
Fractured by Shay Siegel
NEW COMING OF AGE YA DEBUT CONFRONTS THE “FRACTURES” OF YOUNG LOVE, MENTAL HEALTH AND SEXUAL ASSAULT After breaking her own wrist, author Shay Siegel began considering how literal and metaphorical fractures are perceived in society. Inspired by mental health awareness and the scars people cannot see, Siegel released her first YA novel, Fractured, (October 27, 2020, ISBN: 978-1-7346600-0-5), which centers on a young high school football player’s perspective shift of his aspirations and empathy to people he least expects to play a special part in his life. Mason Vance is the guy everybody wants to be, and he knows it. He’s the best high school quarterback in New York and he’s expected to land in the NFL one day. That is, until a broken wrist leaves him fearing whether he’ll ever play again. In an attempt to save his crippled ego, Mason sets his sights on Lace. She’s no cheerleader or homecoming queen like his usual type. She’s too wrapped in her own misery to care about him or his pickup lines. Slowly, she lets him into the sad workings of her mind and less-than-perfect life. That’s why neither of them sees his huge mistake coming—one that instantly fractures everything between them. Will Mason be able to confront the ugliest side of himself, and in the process see who he’s capable of becoming, or will he fall back into the life he knew before Lace and his injury? Through Siegel’s deep study and compassion for young adult stories and pop culture, Fractured will appeal to young adult fans of John Green’s books, like Looking for Alaska, Paper Towns, and The Fault in Our Stars, as well as Jay Asher’s Thirteen Reasons Why. Similar to these titles, Fractured is a realistic coming of age drama, sharing insight into hard, but necessary discussions about the growing pains and fractures of rape culture, depression, and identity. Siegel also speaks from her own experience with mental health, addressing a new, genuine concern for the development of these conditions in characters. Buy Link: Amazon ~ ADD to GOODREADS Shelf ![]()

About D. M. McGowan
"Author Dave McGowan has been a cowboy, forest fire fighter, heavy equipment operator, farmhand, gardener, road musician and businessman. He now writes, and works as a commercial driver, in Northern British Columbia." The forgoing is the bio from the back of my novels and one might conclude from this information that I was a poor employee ... either lazy or didn't know what I was doing ... and was kicked off a lot of jobs. You would be partially correct, at least in surmising that I don't know what I am doing. As for my being a poor employee, you would have to ask my bosses ... although I think I've managed to trick the one I have now. Of course, when I had my own business my boss thought I was marvelous. Truthfully, I've managed over the years to find employment regardless of my location or the problems that might exist with the economy. I enjoyed much of that experience at the time and am glad that I attained it. I've also visited a good portion of North America and lived in several areas of Canada where I met some great people and enjoyed some wonderful country. Speaking of great people, Karen and I are parents to four great people who have supplied eight grandchildren who show that improvements can be possible in each generation. One of those has added a great-grand daughter to the line. Amazon Page ~ Website ~ Goodreads ~ ![]()

"Matt Wallace makes every pro-wrestling fan's dream come true in Bump. Not only does he know his way around a wrestling ring—he'll have you booing at the heels and cheering for the faces, just like you would ringside—but he knows how to tell a story. Middle-school gymnast turned wrestler MJ isn't just trying to find herself, but the courage to be herself, in a world where cliques, cruelty, unfairness, and grief beat you down. But Bump teaches you that, in life and Lucha, there's always a surprise move that can save you from defeat and pin your opponent—and your fears—down." (Carlos Hernandez, Pura Belpré Award-winning author of the Sal and Gabi series) “My favorite books have two things: A world I’ve never seen before and a great character to experience it with. Bump delivers both in a heartfelt, powerful way. I loved stepping into the world of small-time professional wrestling with M.J. I winced every time she took a hit inside the ring and out, and I cheered every time she got up. What a great middle-grade debut. I truly cannot wait to see what Matt Wallace does next.” (Greg van Eekhout, author of Voyage of the Dogs and Cog) “I love kids with big dreams, and MJ is a heroine to root for. Bump introduces readers to the world of professional wrestling while also telling a story about grief, friends that become family, and finding your voice. An entertaining and heartwarming read!” (Janae Marks, author of From the Desk of Zoe Washington) “Cunning plotting and brisk action elevate this impressive tale of swords and super-science... Wallace masterfully subverts readers’ expectations... Readers will be left thoroughly satisfied and eager to know what’s to come.”(Publishers Weekly, starred review) ![]()

Whoever said life would be easy … was a liar. A car wreck took away his father and his leg. But a year later, thirteen-year-old Joseph McKinnon has a mission and it begins with an underground construction project in the woods. Joe’s relying on Dad’s buddy Fred to get the supplies he needs and to keep things secret from Mom. Aside from that, Joe plans to finish the project alone—so he thinks. But help keeps knocking, people interfere, and the situation gets dangerous. If that’s not enough, Joe must deliver two speeches in his language arts class and the only thing he fears more than public speaking is death—but there’s no escaping the inevitable. Or is there? Accepting help from others wasn’t part of the original plan. Neither was lying so much. And while there’s no telling how deep his lies will go, he’s definitely dug himself a hole … twelve feet down. About John Penteros
John Penteros is a math tutor and former engineer who resides in the thermal nightmare known as Arizona. As an engineer, he wrote long and tedious specifications, procedures, and reports peppered with "unprofessional" artifacts to see if anyone was paying attention. The occasional chuckling response lit a small fire within him, leading to other writing endeavors like the annual Christmas letter, which received mostly 5-star reviews. John is also full of make-believe, and when he makes a statement to people who've known him for at least ten minutes, they know to ask themselves "Wait ... is he just kidding me?" Put those things together and you get. Facebook ~ Twitter ~ Goodreads ~ Website ~

Percivious Insomnia (Percivious Trilogy #1)
By JJ Cook & AJ Cook, MD In a year as surreal and stressful as 2020 has been, it’s little wonder that people around the world are experiencing more sleepless nights than ever before; in fact, “sleep is emerging as the latest casualty of the COVID-19 crisis” according to a recent forum hosted by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where experts called the current situation a “perfect storm of sleep problems” and noted the “severe” implications of chronic insomnia. In As an unlikely collection of scientists and citizens come together in a race against the clock to find a cure, disturbing revelations about the underlying cause of the insomnia epidemic come to light that could completely unravel civilization as we know it… and throw into question humanity’s place in the universe. The first book in the “Percivious” trilogy, Percivious Insomnia is a gripping work of contemporary fiction centered on an ominous and otherworldly mystery, and a story which brings together two unique perspectives to create a realistic medical thriller with an imaginative sci-fi twist. Drawing on AJ’s direct experience as a medical doctor and pediatric surgeon and JJ’s background across a range of industries, giving insight and depth to characters spanning an array of disciplines, ages, countries, and cultures, the “Percivious” trilogy sets a unique and original course for fiction of the future, and paints a timely, prescient portrait of today’s globalized society… and what may exist beyond the realm of our current understanding. “The ultimate in altruism lives at the heart of the Percivious Trilogy,” share JJ & AJ of their inspiration to pen this series. “Something pure that has been lost is now found in a new version of our own evolution.” One of summer 2020’s most exciting Canadian fiction debuts, Percivious Insomnia will be released in hardcover, paperback and ebook on August 4, 2020, with an audiobook edition to follow in Fall 2020. Synopsis:
In the west of the 1890s, Jake’s wife is raped and murdered, an image from which he attempts to escape and hide. When two thieves try to take what little he has left, Jake realizes he must face the past and solve his wife’s murder to truly escape the images in his head. But to find the killer, he discovers even more surprises … Jake McTavish left his home in central Canada when he was in his early teens. After working ships on the Great Lakes, fishing Lake Winnipeg, feeding cattle south of Fort Garry, and shooting wolves on the prairies, he starts his own cattle operation in the foothills of the western mountains. Then he meets his life-long partner, Anna. Jake and Anna were married three years when it all came crashing down. He came home to find his beautiful wife raped and murdered. In an attempt to escape the vision of his butchered wife and all that he lost, Jake runs deep into the mountains, where he spends three years trapping and panning gold. When two outlaws attempt to rob him and leave him for dead, Jake finally comes out of the stupor he has lived in and begins to fight back. First he deals with the two thugs. Next he returns to his homestead to find his wife’s killer. Solving a murder after several years is no easy task, especially when it includes surprises he didn’t want to find. Amazon ~ Facebook ![]()
