The Onyx Renaissance by Melvin L. Jones
BOOK BLURB: “Excellence, with no regrets”... “Chill Will”, “Benji”, “Big Mel”, “Juice” and “Ice”. Will Appling, Owen Benjamin, Mel Jones, O.J. McDuffie, and Marcus Teague. Before the Michigan “Fab Five”, there was the “Juice Crew All-Stars” of Hawken. In the Fall of 1985, five young men from the Cleveland area... two from Cleveland's Woodhill Park neighborhood, and three from Warrensville Heights, began their high school experience at Hawken School: a private school on the outskirts of Cleveland in Gates Mills. In the three years they attended Hawken, the “Juice Crew” changed the way people looked at the school as a whole; athletically and socially. While at the same time, these five young men saw civic, cultural and economic differences; things they never dreamed of experiencing while living around the inner city of Cleveland. In an era where social media was relegated to newspapers, radio and television, the “Juice Crew” brought notoriety to a school that was widely considered to be... “a school for bookworms”. “The Onyx Renaissance” chronicles the story of how these five young men came together and forged a brotherhood that allowed them to express themselves athletically and socially. Their acts had long-lasting effects on the school located in Gates Mills... effects that were still being felt today. In a phrase, the “Juice Crew” made Hawken... “Prime Time”. SynopsisWhat Maggy Whitehouse has discovered, over more than a quarter of a century of studying, teaching and writing books on Kabbalah, is that, used as a tool for inspiration, Kabbalah is a magical loom on which we can weave our healing, and from that healing, we become an agent of healing for the World. Kabbalah tells us exactly where, when, how and why we may be out of alignment with health, finances and relationships and, just as importantly, how to realign ourselves.
For Maggy, it began with chronic lack of self-esteem which, in turn, led to many a humiliation, widowhood, shark attack, failed emigration, debt, divorce, shame, misery, hatred and what the doctors called an incurable illness which now no longer exists. It can be summed up, in a way, by how the first eight aspects led to the final one and how Kabbalah taught Maggy how to heal them, from finish to start. After all, 'incurable' surely means 'curable from within'. ![]()

Poltergeist! a New Investigation Into Destructive Haunting: Including "the Cage - Witches Prison" St Osyth by John Fraser
Paperback, 296 pages | ISBN:1789043972 (ISBN13: 9781789043976) Expected publication: August 1st 2020 by 6th Books Synopsis: A New Investigation Into Destructive Haunting fills that void, advancing and updating Colin Wilson's work Poltergeist!, this study's namesake from over 38 years ago. Fraser takes readers on a journey from the Borley Rectory to the Isle of Man, and grounds his readers in an historical overview of 'Poltergeist phenomena'. He examines where such events overlap with other paranormal investigations of 'apparitional' ghosts. What do they have in common, what do they differ? To answer this, Fraser looks to new research on paranormal events, never before published in book form. Fraser contends, perhaps controversially, that ghost sightings are and always will be ambiguous and near-impossible to prove, that only Poltergeist phenomena can be empirically verified. A man, his dog, and a long walk can lead to unexpected discoveries. In the tradition of many literary walkers, David W. Berner sets out on foot hoping to reexamine his life, look back and forward, and most importantly, through the help of his young dog, Sam, try to find harmony in new beginnings and the uncertainties of the present.
In a series of chapters, each dedicated to one walk during a summer of hiking, the author finds that it is his beloved pet that allows him to awaken to a new spirit of mindfulness, finding beauty, wonder, and comfort in the ordinary, and to see a life, a neighborhood, and even a country with brand new eyes. Walks with Sam is available through John Hunt Publishing, Amazon, Kindle, Barnes and Noble and wherever books are sold.
'With gentle humor and brilliant musings, both past and present, Walks With Sam has the charm and the innate truthfulness that some find in a work of art, a daily quest tinged with wonder and mystery with each forward step.' L.B.Johnson, author of The Book of Barkley.

A GIRL IN THREE PARTS by Suzanne Daniel
(Teen/YA Version of Allegra) Published by Knopf Books for Young Readers Apr 14, 2020 | 320 Pages | ISBN 9781984851079 SYNOPSIS: Allegra Elsom is caught in the middle. Some days she’s eleven, and others she feels closer to nineteen. Some days she knows too much, and others she feels hopelessly naive. Some days she is split in three, torn between conflicting loyalties to her grandmothers, Matilde and Joy, and her father, Rick–none of whom can stand to be in a room together since the decades-old tragedy that hit their family like a wrecking ball. Allegra struggles to make peace in her family and navigate the social gauntlet at school while asking bigger questions about her place in the world: What does it mean to be “liberated”? What is it about “becoming a woman” that earns her a slap in the face? What does it mean to do the right thing, when everyone around her defines it differently? As the feminist movement reshapes her Sydney suburb, Allegra makes her own path–discovering firsthand the incredible ways that women can support each other, and finding strength within herself to stand up to the people she loves. Readers will not soon forget Suzanne Daniel’s poignant debut, or the spirit of sisterhood that sings out from its pages.
“Daniel pulls no punches in this emotional and insightful debut about working through family trauma and owning your power. An excellent choice for those interested in feminism, a bit of mystery, and a lot of heart-wrenching drama.” —Booklist “A captivating debut… This novel is a quiet yet sincere story that slowly builds to its climax as its young narrator comes of age. “ –SLJ “An emotionally moving portrayal of the effects grief has on a family….
