Shine On: The Remarkable Story Of How I Fell Under A Speeding Train, Journeyed To The Afterlife, And The Astonishing Proof I Brought Back With Me by David Ditchfield (Author), J S Jones Ph.D (Author)
  • Publisher: O-Books (July 1, 2020) |  280 pages
  • ISBN-10: 1789043654 \  ISBN-13: 978-1789043655
Synopsis:
Across thousands of years, people have described one of the most astonishing of all human phenomena: the near-death experience (NDE), the subjective experience of an Afterlife, a place where we apparently survive death.
The more powerful the NDE, the more profound the after effects. The ambitious reset their priorities. Atheists change their values. Doctors rethink their beliefs.
But what if the after effects of an NDE were undeniable? What if someone suddenly developed the ability to produce high quality paintings of their NDE, a new-found skill that went far beyond the artistic ability they had before? And what if that same person then suddenly acquired the ability to compose classical symphonies after their NDE? And their symphonies were then premiered at sell out orchestral concerts, even though, to this day, they are unable to read or write a single note of musical notation. Wouldn't this be proof that even a cynic would have a hard time explaining?
After his NDE, this is exactly what happened to David. And this is his story.

Meet: David Ditchfield.:
I was born in Blackpool but raised in Bromsgrove in the West Midlands. I left my inner city comprehensive school with only one qualification having failed almost everything due to undiagnosed severe dyslexia. The only option open was a course learning how to draw letters for adverts, not a great career choice for someone profoundly dyslexic.
After being sacked from my one and only proper job, I moved to London and played three-chord guitar in various rock 'n' roll punk and pop bands and co-wrote a couple of pop songs with Kevin Rowland. Eventually, I drifted away from playing in bands and things went on a downward spiral in my life. I ended up surviving as a manual laborer, my life empty and directionless. It was at this low point that I had a freak accident and was pulled under the wheels of a speeding train.
In the hospital afterwards, I had my amazing near-death experience (NDE). The NDE changed everything for me and inspired me to reach a level of musical and artistic creativity that I had never been capable of achieving before. At first, I felt compelled to produce paintings of what I'd seen in the Afterlife and then I felt moved to compose classical music, even though I've never received any training in classical music and never composed such music before my NDE (in fact, to this day, I still cannot read or write a single note of music at all). My debut symphony, The Divine Light, was inspired by my NDE and I was lucky enough to have it premiered at a sell-out performance. Since then, I have composed a follow-up symphony, '
The Falcon', which was also premiered at a sell-out concert, as was my Cambridge Clarinet Choir commissioned piece 'Awake', conducted by renowned Clarinet player Andrew Webster. I am currently composing a new symphony entitled 'I Wasn't Expecting This'. I came back from the Afterlife charged with an incredible energy, a burning desire to tell everyone there is nothing to fear after death, life continues on.
Before my NDE, my life had been completely ruled by guilt and lack of self-worth. But my NDE gave me the self-love and confidence to go and try whatever I wanted to do in life and that's a wonderful feeling and I want everyone to feel that way.

About J S Jones Ph.D
J S Jones is a British academic. Her PhD investigated a complementary therapy using rigorous scientific methods, an experience that taught her to apply clear-headed logic to esoteric topics. In her post-doctoral academic career, she has authored a number of scientific journal articles and book chapters. Outside the world of academia, she is now working on a new fiction novel, the first in a planned series and thoroughly enjoying the process.
J S Jones talks about SHINE ON. "The events in 'Shine On' really happened and I was a part of them. Having witnessed this story first-hand, I believe it is a remarkable tale that deserves to be told. David has profound dyslexia, so I was delighted when he asked me to co-author the book because he felt I was the one person who could understand his thought processes and capture his language, mood and emotions to help tell his story as authentically as possible.

SYNOPSIS
In her 14 years, all Rebecca has known is life under the rigid structure of Anecor. She knows the rules. She knows how to play the game. Now everything she knows is about to change...
The Reckoning destroyed the United States of America. Survivors of the assault, led by the newly elected president, are now subject to his rules. The Vision controls nearly every aspect of life in the country now known as Anecor.
Rebecca and Jonathan grew up under the strict rules and watchful "eye" of SMALS, an AI system that monitors citizens' every move through phones and internal trackers. Those who don't follow the rules are disappeared.
           Never to be seen again.
When a strange virus strikes the city of Montrose, the residents panic as more of their friends, family, and acquaintances are stricken. No one knows how the virus spreads and scientists have found no cure. There have been no survivors. When the virus strikes Jonathan, Rebecca's world turns upside down.
Jonathan reveals to Rebecca his suspicions about the virus and the discovery of a mysterious glow of purple light behind a nearby mountain. It is up to Rebecca to continue the work he started. It is up to her to unravel the mystery of the virus and the purple light. It is up to her to save her city.
Rebecca will have to risk everything, including her life, to keep her promise to Jonathan.
Her life is about to change. And so will the rules of the game.

And to succeed, it will mean joining in a perilous battle for the survival of Anecor.

About Desserae K Shepston
Desserae K Shepston was born in Montana, but spent her formative years in Champaign, Illinois. She blames her birth place on her affinity for mountain environments. She has lived in Chicago, Garmisch, Germany, Austin, and now, everywhere North America.
Desserae received her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She holds two Masters and a PhD from Texas State University. She left the stationary life and career behind for a life on the road in a 1993 RV, traveling North America with her three cats, and living her passion for travel and an outdoor life. She wrote her first book, Travel Cats: tips for beginning an rv journey with your feline family after working through the kinks of RV living with cats herself. Her children's book, The Adventures of Gatsby the Travel Cat in Mesa Verde was also inspired by her travels and her most adventuresome cat, really named Gatsby, who seems to have been born for road life.
Desserae has also written a Young Adult Sci-Fi Dystopian novel, The Undoing. This book did not come from her travels, but was born purely from her imagination and a love of YA and Dystopian literature.

This Summer, I'd love to be able to visit my mom in North Carolina. Hopefully it will be safe enough to do so. Until it is, we Zoom every week and make the best of it.

Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, I won't be doing much outside the home. I am working on a long overdue organizing of family photos so hopefully something positive will be completed this summer.
