REVIEW By LAWonder10:
This is a clever, whimsical and helpful book for very young children - and even for the older ones. I Can Handle It focuses on the various situations in an individual's life and various scenarios one can use to deal with each one....Some are silly, but most are great suggestions. At the end of the story is a page where the child can personalize the books. It contains a wonderful author's message, the two blank pages which can also be used to personalize the book. The simple, whimsical illustrations by Ana Santos, are large and simple enough, young children will love and be more able to stay focused on. They are very, pleasingly colorful. I offer a Five Stars rating. *This book was gifted me with no pressure for a positive review. This is my honest review.
(Guest post by Laurie Wright Author of the Mindful Mantras series) Top 3 indoor activities for kids and their parents in 2021 Indoor activities for kids and their parents Stuck inside the house for days…. with your kids! Chances are there isn't that many activities you all enjoy doing together. Times are stressful and it can be hard to concentrate… I’m a mom of three so this applies to me too, in 2021 more than ever. Here are three activities for kids AND their parents that I think everyone will enjoy, and want to do over and over. Get Your Hands Dirty : Play Doh and kinetic sand isn’t just for kids! Rolling ooey gooey balls and then SMASHING them is strangely therapeutic for kids and their parents alike. For kids there are loads of benefits. They enjoy the sensory feedback, the creativity, and the feeling of success that comes from MAKING something. Adults can’t usually explain it, it just feels incredibly satisfying. We don’t often take the chance to engage in sensory play and it surprises us when it’s so enjoyable. GIve yourself a half hour with the kids at the table, put on music everyone enjoys and just ENJOY. Do You Remember How to Pretend? My kids have surprised me with pretend games that I expected would be no-fun-at-all, but that I thoroughly enjoyed. The most recent example; the convinced me to play ‘Among Us’. It’s a recent fad app that all the pre-teens are playing and it has a trickle down effect. My 12 year old uses the distinctive jargon around the house and my other kids have picked it up. Suddenly everything is ‘sus’ around here, my 6 yr randomly drops to the ground, dead, and my 9 yr old shouts ‘Dead body report!’. They love it, but I thought it was pretty weird. How to take this pop culture fad and turn it into a fun activity for my kids and me? First, I had to play a few rounds so that I could get the idea. The kids LOVED showing me around the app and playing the real game together. (I wasn’t a fan - the chat is super toxic and I highly recommend engaging the language sensors) After I got the idea of it though, we could ‘pretend’ play it and we had SO much fun. We did it with the lights on to start and then added flashlights in a dark house to up the spooky factor. Ask your kids what they're loving and see how you can turn it into a pretend play game - you’ll be surprised at how much fun you can have. “A man is getting old when he walks around a puddle instead of through it.” ~ R.C. Ferguson Blow Your Troubles Away! There are benefits to blowing bubbles, and they are limited to your children. Big belly breathes that are required to blow giant bubbles help to calm us and regulate our emotions. Besides that, it’s just plain fun! This summer we discovered our dog even loves playing with the bubbles, which brought on big belly laughs for all of us. Three Activities for Kids and their Parents: ● Sensory play, like play doh or kinetic sand ● Pretend play, something engaging for everyone ● Blow bubbles! You are never too old to experience the wonder that is bubble blowing More ideas? These are just a few ideas for activities that both your kids and their parents would enjoy! Have more? Please share! REVIEW By LAWonder10:
This is a very cute story with an uplifting message, especially good after natural disasters occur. It is about a Panda bear aiding a baby Koala bear. The watercolor illustrations by Zuzana Syvobodova are very colorful and well done. The only negative thought is, I feel a few sentences are slightly mature and unclear for the age range the book is written for. Otherwise, I totally recommend it for children from three to eight years of age. I offer a Four Stars rating. This book was gifted me with no pressure for a positive review. This is my honest review.
"Don’t you know it yet? It’s your light that lights the world.” This is one of my favorite quotes by Rumi which describes the message the book has perfectly. Journey to A New Earth reminds us of the existing inner light we all have within us that connects us to each other and the Earth and Universe, and how to re-ignite that light through loving and connecting with each other. ![]()

REVIEW By LAWonder10:
This was a whimsical tale, but there was a good moral to it. In Dragon's Don't Dance Ballet, although the downside to a dragon dancing ballet is very real, the upside is when one does their very best, he/she can still prevail! The water color, cartoon-like illustration by Eric Afuso, was colorfully okay. it will surely catch the attention of the very young child. I offer a Four Stars rating for the book. This book was gifted me with no pressure for a positive review. This is my honest review.
DRAGON'S DON'T DANCE
Auditions are scary. For anyone who has ever pursued a role in a play, tried to earn a spot in a singing group,or had to deliver a speech in front of a classroom of peers, you know that flighty, nervous feeling that seems to settle into your belly and make your kneecaps jiggle. Being able to perform under pressure is a skill that everyone should learn, but lots of us do everything to avoid! Sometimes all we need is an encouraging friend to help us through these nerve-jangling times. In Dragon’s Don’t Dance Ballet, not only does Esmerelda have to perform under pressure, but she has to prove that her unique qualities are a boon to the show instead of a hazard. With her friend, Harold, she does just that, and luckily the director is a creative thinker, too! When my youngest was 13 he wanted to audition for a summer musical theatre troupe that one of his older brothers had participated in for many years. He got cold feet when will pulled into the driveway, but I made him buck up and go for it—he may not have been too happy with me in the moment, but boy was he happy that summer! And the next time he had to audition for something, his feet didn’t get so cold. Now auditions are a piece of cake for him and it’s mom who has the quaking nerves waiting for the cast list. Encourage your children through difficult tasks and you’ll create resilient children who encourage others! ![]()

REVIEW By LAWonder10:
What an adorable story! What is even more incredible is that it is true! Author, Marlene M. Bell, has created a delightful children's book about a true event. Mia was small like the newborn baby lamb she named Nattie. Nattie needed special care to survive. As Nattie grew older, Mia had to find a way to convince her Grandmother that Nattie was worth keeping. Would she find a way before it was too late? Not only was this a well-written story for young children, it is fun to read the Author's note at the end of the story, relating details of this real life-quest. Illustrator, Grace Sandford, has created beautifully bright, colorful illustrations with cartoon-like characters. The pages of this book are substantially thicker than average paper and the binding is secure in this high quality physical book. This is perfect read for Preschool or early elementary age children. I highly recommend it for Summer Reading Programs and children's' Book Clubs. I offer a Five Stars rating for the quality of the book, the illustrations and for the literary accomplishment. *This book was gifted me with no pressure for a positive review. Why I Wrote Mia and Nattie
Fourteen years ago, in December, I found a tiny lamb lying on the ground, abandoned in the frosty, early morning hours. I gathered her in my arms and brought her into the house for warmth and to give her a fighting chance to stay alive. She wasn’t expected to survive because of her slight weight of three pounds. While the lamb lived in our laundry room and made her acquaintance with our house cat for eight weeks, we called her Natalie because the name suited her personality. She softened our hearts, and became part of the family (outdoors) for thirteen years on our farm. It wasn’t until we lost her that I decided to tell Nat’s unique story in a picture book for children, Mia and Nattie: One Great Team! You see, Natalie wasn’t just a pet. She had an important job on the farm. When we raised a seasonal group of bottle lambs just like she had been, I allowed them to graze with Natalie between feedings. It made logical sense to have the lambs stay with her so that they had an adult sheep as company, teaching them what their mothers would have. I’d feed the lambs and Natalie would be their companion. Sheep are social creatures and enjoy being around other ewes. Natalie was the perfect solution, since Nat’s size made it impossible to run her with the other sheep in our flock. She could roam the property in front of our house without interference from the larger sheep— taking her hay and the feed from baby lambs. As elderly sheep with arthritis were unable to keep up with the main flock, we moved them in with Natalie as a friend for them as well. The old girls and bottle lambs grazed around our home with their own little barn using the 200-year-old catalpa tree as shade, making great subjects for my photography! ![]()
