Don’t miss Syl and Roue’s adventures in REKINDLED, the new prequel novella to NEMESIS, Book 4 of the Circuit Fae Perfect for readers of romance, urban fantasy, fairy stories and LGBT. ![]() Book details: Rekindled (A Circuit Fae NEMESIS Prequel Novella, #3.5) by Genevieve Iseult Eldredge Published by: Firefly Hill Press | Publication date: March 26th 2019 Genres: Urban Fantasy, Young Adult Synopsis: It’s good to be queen. Except when it’s a total disaster. Syl Skye, newly crowned Queen of Fair Faerie, would be psyched to be the ruler of her Summer realm, except for two things. First, her girlfriend Rouen Rivoche became Queen of Dark Faerie, the Winter realm. That would be great except the Winter realm’s always been at war with Summer. By tradition, that makes Rouen Syl’s mortal enemy. That said, love can break past old hatred, right? Especially with a new foe about to attack them both. Ah, no. Which brings us to Syl’s second problem. Rouen’s under a dark spell and doesn’t remember Syl, their lives, their love. Worse, if Syl doesn’t break the spell by the next new moon, Rouen will forget her forever. To defeat their foe, it’ll take two soul-bound queens whose hearts and minds act as one. Trouble is, no one has ever broken the dark spell Rouen suffers from. Good thing Syl isn’t the type of queen who gives up easily. It is a good reminder that secrets we keep can be a burden to us as much as those we love. Also that sometimes it takes most of our lifetime to completely realize what is really important. Mistreated by her adopted family and bullied at school, she dreams of running away and being free. But when she is kidnapped and dragged through a portal into a magical world, suddenly her old life doesn’t seem so bad. Avalonia is a dangerous land ruled by powerful mages and a cruel, selfish queen who will do anything to control all seven kingdoms—including killing anyone who stands in her way. Thrust headlong into this new, magical world, Aurora’s arrival sets plans in motion that threaten to destroy all she holds dear. With the help of a young fae, a magical pegasus, and a handsome mage, Aurora journeys across Avalonia to learn the truth about her past and unleash the power within herself. Kingdoms collide as a complicated web of political intrigue and ancient magic lead Aurora to unravel a shocking secret that will change her life forever. Review by LAWonder10: Aurora thought her life was difficult as a twice orphan and as a teenager.. That is until she went o a sudden vacation with her guardians to a beautiful manor and was dragged through a portal by a very scary stranger! Aurora arrived in a fantastical land where it seems nothing is impossible. Why are so many trying to kill her? Will her new friends be able to save her? Is she capable of becoming great? This book has constant action! It varies between monsters, fantasy creatures and a sense of "Robin Hood". The characters become so real, it is hard to maintain it is a fantasy novel. They are very diversified and creative. You will truly love some and really despise others. The settings are descriptive and easily visualized. The Cover and Title are very well-chosen and eye-catching There is a bonding of friendships, deceit, betrayals, suspense, intrigue, romance and a tough of humor. There is some graphic violence but not to the extreme.. The ending is complete yet leaves the reader yearning for the next book of the series. I highly recommend this to Young Adults and Adults, alike. This will surely become a movie series. The seven kingdoms of Avalonia are crumbling and evil is spreading across the land like a plague. Queen Morgana is close to finding a way to open The Book of Abraxas and it’s only a matter of time until she uses the power trapped inside its pages to enslave the entire world. With Avalonia growing more dangerous by the day, Aurora must travel through war-torn lands and deep into the heart of the fae kingdom of Elfi. Her goal is to find a legendary weapon infused with the last of the realm’s ancient magic—the only weapon in the world powerful enough to stop the queen. Aurora might have survived her first battle against Morgana, but the true fight to save her kingdom and restore her throne has only just begun… REVIEW by LAWonder10: The second book of The Avalonia Chronicles is every bit as exciting as the first, yet, in a different way. It is a cross genre and the characters are gallant, deceitful, creepy, humorous, irritating and endearing. Orphaed and "outsider" Aurora's safety can no longer be assured, due to her own stubbornness and arrogance. When will she ever learn to listen! She still is unsure of who she can trust.. she even has some doubts about Rafe. However, there is one she knows is trustworthy, but is stuck in a dungeon and may not survive. She escapes to Elphi only to find it was not as she expected. She is determined to train hard, and come to know who she really is. She will push herself t the limit. She must discover the ancient secret of the Dawnstar so she can somehow fix some of the havoc she has created. This is a more emotional tale than the first was, yet still maintains the action and suspense created in the first book. The characters are equally diversified and so real, the reader can feel he/she really knows them. The Book Cover and Title is very "fitting". The ending is rather shocking. The reader will be more than anxious to read the nest book of the series. It will be a shame if a producer does not recognize the outstanding movie series this would be. I offer a Five Stars rating. ISBN: 1335470468 (ISBN13: 9781335470461) Published February 27th 2018 by Harlequin Teen SYNOPSIS: When Lizzie Lavenza enrolled at Ingold as its first female medical student, she knew she wouldn't have an easy time. From class demands to being an outsider among her male cohorts, she'll have to go above and beyond to prove herself. So when she stumbles across what appears to be a faulty Bio-mechanical--one of the mechanized cadavers created to service the school--she jumps at the chance to fix it and get ahead in the program. Only this Bio-mechanical isn't like the others. Where they are usually empty-minded and perfectly obedient, this one seems to have thoughts, feelings... and self-awareness. Soon Lizzie realizes that it is Victor Frankenstein--a former student who died under mysterious circumstances. Victor, it seems, still has a spark of human intelligence inside him, along with memories of things he discovered before his untimely death.. .and a suspicion that he was murdered to keep that information from getting out. Suddenly Lizzie finds herself intertwined in dark secrets and sabotage that put her life, and the lives of Victor and their friends, in danger. But Lizzie's determined to succeed--even if that means fighting an enemy who threatens the entire British Empire.
REVIEW by LAWonder10:
This new YA series has a touch of midlevel, and science fiction & even dystopian genres in it. Victor, a bright, gifted medical student studying the new field of bionics, tragically died. He was murdered by someone he truly trusted. Lizzie, was the first woman medical student at the University at Yorkshire. If it were not for her deceased father's good friend, Dr. Makepiece, she would ever been allowed in. She had invented a remarkable machine - under the pretense it was her father's invention - and she hoped to expand its usefulness through further studying bionics under Professor Makepiece. Unfortunately, few accepted her as a medical student. The only two medical students who have included are a timid younger brother of Victor, and his lifelong friend who suffers from a slight defect. The three of them are somewhat misfits. A young man received frequent flashbacks of memory of a former life. Why could he not speak nor act coherent? He soon learned, through abuse, not to hesitate nor question. Lizzy went to inquire of Dr. Makepiece about some things on her mind. When she couldn't readily find him, she wandered through the lab only to discover a Bio-Mechanical being who seemed to possess human traits. She began to silently work with him. There is a rumor going around school that could have a definite effect upon the nation! Although this seems a bit bizarre and incredible, it is not totally impossible in toddy's scientific world. In fact, it is slightly "scary" this scenario could truly happen! I did have some difficulty at the beginning of the book, in "connecting" with the story. I feel it needed to move more smoothly between scenes and individuals different "voices" It is an outrageous concept, yet is an interesting plot. If you enjoy Frankenstein literature, you will surely enjoy this/ The characters have been developed in a very realistic way, and the background scenes portrayed in a way one can visualize them. The Title and Cover are simple, yet, depicts the tale well. There is a lot of suspense/drama in this unusual tale. READER BEWARE: The is some profanity and some intimate situations not recommended for those under 17 years of age. I offer a Four Stars rating. ^This was gifted me with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review. ![]()

Published February 1st 2019 by Harlequin Teen BLURB: From Alisa Kwitney comes a connected novel set in the same alternative Victorian England of Cadaver & Queen. Corpse & Crown follows the story of Agatha DeLacey, an Ingold nursing student who travels to London and uncovers a devastating secret about the country's Bio-Mechanicals. Inspired by the classic story of Oliver Twist and complete with a dashing Artful Dodger-inspired male lead, this retelling is a satisfying follow-up to Kwitney's clever and critically acclaimed young adult debut. Purchase Links: Amazon | Books-A-Million | Barnes & Noble Add toGoodreads Shelf REVIEW by LAWonder10: In the second book of this bizarre series for Young Adults, the university is destroyed by outraged citizens in the community. The school must temporarily be moved to London. Lizzy & Victor continue in their uncanny relationship, after discovering the head professors' secrets. However, there is a definite change in existing friendships and newly formulated ones. This was a very similar repeat of the first book, adding a few "twists" but lacking in as much originality. It was still interesting. Also, Lizzy's roommate, Aggie has a larger role along with a new entertaining character. It emphasizes the point that there is good and bad in all people. It is important to encourage the good in oneself and others. The new characters added a definite "flair" and were described in away they each felt real. Reader Beware: Again, this has some profanity and sensitive, graphic subjects. I do not recommend it to any youth under the age of 17 years of age. I offer a Three and a Half Stars for this novel. ^This was gifted me with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review. ![]()
I'm the author of YA, graphic novels and novels for adults who still feel young, at least most of the time.
My latest books are Cadaver & Queen from Harlequin Teen, a Feminist Frankenstein meets Grey's Anatomy tale, and Mystik U from DC Comics, which features Zatanna and other magical characters in their first year at college. My first novel, Till the Fat Lady Sings, is also about college and romance and eating disorders. (It was my thesis at Columbia University's MFA Program, where I felt like an outlier for liking comic books and romance as much as literature.) I was an editor at Vertigo, the mature/dark fantasy branch of DC Comics, before going freelance. (I've also written two hormonal werewolf books as Alisa Sheckley.) I live in an old house in Rhinebeck, NY with my husband, my cat, and the occasional visiting skunk. As a descendant of Aillira and god-gifted in her own right, she has the power to read people's souls, to see someone's true essence with only a touch of her hand. When a golden-haired warrior washes up on the shores of her homeland--one of the fearful marauders from the land of the Frozen Sun--Lira helps the wounded man instead of turning him in. After reading his soul, she realizes Reyker is different than his brethren who attack the coasts of Glasnith. He confides in her that he's been cursed with what his people call battle-madness, forced to fight for the warlord known as the Dragon, a powerful tyrant determined to reignite the ancient war that Aillira started. As Lira and Reyker form a bond forbidden by both their clans, the wrath of the Dragon falls upon them and all of Glasnith, and Lira finds herself facing the same tragic fate as her ancestor. The battle for Lira's life, for Reyker's soul, and for their peoples' freedom has only just begun. Links: Blackstone Publishing | Amazon | Add to Goodreads |
REVIEW by LAWonder10:
Raised from early youth to be a "killing machine", Reyker has learned to compartmentalize his brain so he will not allow this "killer" to take over his mind. Is he losing the battle within himself? Lira, a descendant of a God-gifted mortal, whose love affair sparked a war between Gods and man, was blessed with a special gift. She was raised to use her special gift for the good of the kingdom. When she discovers a Viking enemy on the shore, she recalls this moment from a recent dream. Using caution, she decides she must keep him a secret and save him. However, most secrets cannot be kept for long.... This is a great fable in which several key lessons are taught, i.e.: one can grow from learning and sharing differences; one is in error when stereotyping individuals; forgiveness is for one's own good; and good and evil exists in all cultures and governments. This Young Adult book offers adventure, mythology, romance, suspense, intrigue, and action in one novel. There is graphic violence and suggestive phrases. The characters are very diverse and creatively developed. Most feel real. The book Cover and Title are chosen well. I offer a Five Stars rating for this novel ^Tis was gifted me with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review
ADVANCED PRAISE for Beasts of the Frozen Sun:
“Beasts of the Frozen Sun sweeps the reader into a lush and vivid world of magic and betrayal, crowned by a heroine who captivates from the first pages and a love story powerful enough to bring time to a standstill. An amazing debut.” — Erin Beaty, author of the Traitor’s Circle trilogy “Beasts of the Frozen Sun is a fierce saga, beautifully told, that will transport readers to a time of magic and gods, battles and clan warfare. A totally engrossing and epic adventure—I couldn’t get enough of Lira and Reyker’s story.” — Jessica Leake, author of Beyond a Darkened Shore and Through the White Wood GUEST POST: Jill, in your new novel, Beasts of the Frozen Sun, you provided an impressive map and created some very interesting characters. What process did you go through is accomplishing this feat, and in creating these characters? Hi Lu Ann, What a great question! I'll start with how the map came about. I like to create elaborate worlds in my writing, but I often get so absorbed in the plot that I lose track of details like distances between places and where villages and landmarks are in relation to one another. Several readers of early drafts of Beasts of the Frozen Sun mentioned being confused about these details. That's when I realized I needed a map. I started with a hand-drawn sketch, which I later used to design a digital map using a map-making software program. I've referenced that map so many times during revisions of Beasts and in writing the sequel that it was well worth the effort of making it. Kurt Jones, my book's cover designer at Blackstone, used my digital map to make the one that ended up in the book, so I'm especially proud of it! As for the characters, Lira and Reyker developed first. I knew the heart of the story would be these two people from different countries and cultures, and the characters were influenced by this. I envisioned Lira's Celtic-inspired culture, and with the aid of historical research and reading books that take place in similar cultures (mainly Juliet Marillier's Sevenwaters series), I understood what Lira's role in such a world might be, and her character took shape. It was the same for Reyker's Norse-inspired culture (influenced by Juliet Marillier's Saga of the Light Isles, George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, and the History Channel TV show Vikings). Once I understood Lira and Reyker's cultures, and some of the basic storylines I wanted to explore through them, the other characters just sprang to life around them. That's how it always works for me, as a writer--if I build an interesting, intricate world, I know the characters will show up and whisper their stories to me. That is very enlightening and quite astounding! Thank you, Jill, for this insight! Thank you for being a part of my blog and for the awesome Giveaway! ![]()

![]() book summary: Reagan Bellamy’s neighbor, Dash Carter, refuses to wither under her stare. Reagan’s too busy to waste time on a loser with musical pipe dreams. Between classes and her need to stay ahead of the game, she’s got too much on her plate to give him the time of day. For the first time in a long time, Dash Carter feels optimistic about the future. He’s clean, he’s on a good path, and he’s surrounded himself with people who make life better. Unfortunately, his beautiful neighbor still thinks he’s a slacker, bothering Dash more than it should. When Dash inadvertently puts Reagan in a difficult position with her new boss, he becomes more invested in her life despite warnings from his mentor to not get involved with someone whose beliefs don’t match his own. The more Reagan digs her heels in against the religious freaks she’s forced to interact with, the more she begins to question everything she’s built her life upon. When the tide begins to turn in Reagan’s heart and her worldview flips upside down, trusting God means putting everything on the line, including her heart. REVIEW by LAWonder10: This is a delightfully entertaining tale of a reformed "party-er" and an, unlikely, close-knit college roommate group of girls. (Although several other individuals "come into play".) Dash Carter was a member if a popular college band... That was then, before he re-evaluated his life choices. Reagan had worked too hard to receive this scholarship. Anything less than perfection wouldn't do. Whereas her roommates were often encouraging her to "have a Life" outside of her college studies, she had learned in her Freshman year that it was a big mistake to drift from her set goals. Dash lived in the same apartment complex as Reagan and her roommates. Although the other three girls were gorgeous, it was Reagan that held his attraction. Maybe it was because she never noticed him. He was used to having girls fall all over him. Right now, however, that was not a problem because he was on a sabbatical. After a particularly challenging night, Reagan's day got worse when she discovered a flat tire on her car. She had a very important meeting and did not have time to change it. Who else but tnh egotistical, Dash Carter would offer her a ride? She was desperate! This is a sometime humorous and sometimes poignant story about misconceptions, communication problems, and redemption. (Keep some Kleenex handy.) I really loved the characters, topic and literary delivery. The characters truly all seemed alive and the situations clearly portrayed until the reader felt he/she was there. The Cover Was very simply created but yet very "fitting". The Title was effective, although it took a little thought to see how effective it was. The only negative thought was the drama was slightly "drawn-out" and slightly repetitive at times. Otherwise, it was an outstanding story. I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating.
