Wonderland Academy re-imagines the fantastical world of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland for a fresh, new adventure. Combining whimsy, magic, and a splash of steampunk, New York Times best-selling author Melanie Karsak invites you into this beautifully re-envisioned fairy tale adventure.
Wonderland Academy: Book One by Melanie Karsak
Publication date: August 27th 2019
Genres: Fairy Tales, Fantasy, Retelling, Young Adult
Welcome to Wonderland Academy. Don't lose your head. Getting into Wonderland Academy is easy:
You must be a little mad.
You must follow the white rabbit.
You must find the key to enter Wonderland.
You must not be named Alice or risk being beheaded by order of the Queen of Hearts.
We might have an issue with that last one.
My name may be Alice, but Wonderland Academy is everything my real life isn't. Who wouldn't want to learn how to ride a jabberwocky, train with a vorpal sword, cast spells using a teacup, or shapeshift into a fairy? As long as no one figures out my real name, I should be fine.
The only problem? Aden, the Queen of Hearts' son, is quickly becoming my best friend. And then there's Corbin. Brooding, surly, tattooed, and definitely not my type, I can't stop thinking about him. But Corbin has secrets of his own, and Wonderland and secrets don't mix.
How I'm going to pass my classes and protect my secret like my life depends on it is beyond me. But I better find a way. Because in Wonderland, no Alice is safe.
Wonderland Academy is a college-level academy novel. It contains a slow-burn (not rh) romance. The novel is clean aside from mild language. This is Book 1 in a planned trilogy. Book 1 ends on a cliffhanger (Frodo didn't reach Mount Doom in a day, after all).
++ Trigger Warning: This novel also includes references to a school shooting.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Melanie Karsak is the author of The Airship Racing Chronicles, The Harvesting Series, The Celtic Blood Series, Steampunk Red Riding Hood, and Steampunk Fairy Tales. The author currently lives in Florida with her husband and two children. She is an Instructor of English at Southern New Hampshire University.

Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult
When Ellie’s estranged brother, Luke, dies in a car accident, she’s not sure whether to be devastated that she lost the person who was once her best friend or enraged, still, that he left without a word a year ago. Now, the only people who seem to understand what she’s going through are Luke’s best friend and his ex-girlfriend, who she bonds with over their desire to figure out where Luke went when he walked out of their lives.
As she gets closer to them, and closer to Cade, a boy who seems determined to get to know her better, she realizes that she’s not the only one with reasons to be angry at Luke. And when Ellie makes a discovery that changes everything, she and her new friends hit the road, hoping that following Luke’s trail will bring them answers about the life Luke was living away from them.

We Are The Ghosts - Vicky Skinner
This story is so well written, There are so many twists and surprises. It keeps you guessing what is coming next.
The characters are all well-developed. It is so easy to feel their emotions. You really can feel all their feelings and all they go through... All the heart ache and loss. I totally understand how Ellie couldn't understand or control her feelings.
The friends are a great part of the story.
The story flows well from chapter to chapter and is easy to follow along.
I highly recommend this book to others. It is a very good read.
I give this a literary rating of 5/5
Born and raised in Texas, I don’t act like much of a Texan. I like cold weather and hate country music. I have a gorgeous husband, two dogs, and a Literature degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. If I’m not at home reading a book or doing laundry, I’m probably at the bookstore, nannying three rambunctious boys, or stuck on the side of the road with car trouble. I’m a reader, a writer, and a bit of a crazy person.

Things you should know about me: I write novels! Some have won awards. Others have been bestsellers. Under Shannon Greenland (my real name) you’ll find spies, adventure, and romantic suspense. Under S. E. Green (my pen) you’ll find dark and gritty fiction about serial killers, cults, secret societies that do bad things, and whatever else my twisted brain deems to dream up. I’m on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. I also have a website and a very non-annoying newsletter where you can keep up to date with new releases, free stuff, and my mild ramblings about my travels. I have a very old and grouchy dog. But I love him. My humor runs dark and so don’t be offended by something off I might say. I mean no harm. I live in a small Florida beach town, but I’m most often found exploring the world. I eat entirely too many chips. I also love math!

GUEST POST: The Grand, Mysterious Void
Sometimes it’s strange being a writer, someone who scribbles words on a page (or types them on a device), with the goal of creating an experience for a reader—a reader that the writer rarely sees.
First, there’s the matter of trying to get the words “right”—a subjective target that seems to constantly be moving. What’s beautiful and charming to the author might very well look like the opposite to someone else. Then there’s difficulties of day-to-day life, which always seems so intent on intruding whenever the creative process gets rolling. (For example: try wrestling with an emotional scene while a toddler clambers all over you, demanding your undivided
If the writer makes it past those first two hurdles, then they’re faced with the most amorphous challenge of all: the grand, mysterious void—a chasm with no apparent bottom into which the author is expected to hurl their hard-toiled words, with the hope that, somewhere in that vast emptiness, a reader will stumble across the pages, glance at them for a moment, and feel
Some time ago, I wrote Wild Horse. I tried to get the words right. Life did its best to get in the way. And now I’ve let the pages flutter away, deep into that mysterious void, like a nervous parent wringing their hands over their child’s first day at school.
What happens next is, from my perspective, a mystery. Sure, sometimes a message crosses the ether—an email from a stranger here, a comment from a reviewer there—but for the most part, the void remains ink-dark and gaping, like the mouth of an insatiable, word-hungry giant, one that demands to be fed more words.
Like I said … sometimes it’s strange being a writer.
