REVIEW By LAWonder10:
Underneath the Fireflies by Marianne Scott is an intriguing and realistic story. It is about a woman who has a controversial empathic ability. She has experienced a death that she saw happening and was part of the judicial inquiry. She was stressed out and was having re-occurring nightmares. She took off work and escaped to Galliano island on the West Coast, to visit her parents on the remote island. To begin with, the plane ride was rough, then her seatmate realized she needed help before getting off. Was he hitting on her? Ironically they were staying at the same hotel and taking the same ferry to the same place. Was this a coincidence?
What was supposed to be a weekend to recover and relax ended up being quite the opposite.
This book is full of adventure, mystery, intrigue, romance, and out-of-the-world occurrences.
The characters are developed well and are very believable. The scenes are well-described and quite easily visualized. The action is constant and the mystery is not easily predictable. The only negative is it felt slightly drawn out and repetitive. The ending was slightly abrupt. Otherwise, it was a very entertaining read.
I offer a Four Stars rating.
This book was gifted me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.
