Review By LAWonder10:

Blooming Rose Blasts Off! is the first book in an educational, motivational, and self-help book for children. It is a great story to encourage children to overcome doubts and fears and try something new, and giving it one’s best effort.

At the end of the book is a “Beyond the Text Bundle” of academics that can be downloaded that gives ten leveled exercises that will aid teachers/guardians in making each book the ultimate teaching tool. There are also YouTube videos that offers additional help.

The illustrations are colorful and enhances the story. However, I am not a fan of the cartoonish illustrations as many of the illustrations are.

I think this series is a much-needed one. It  is well-written, in a precise way that even many preschoolers will enjoy.

I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating.

For Parents. For Teachers. For Kids.

This is the tagline turned mission behind the Blooming Rose children’s book series I created back in 2017. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to create a series for children, but also for the parents, caregivers and teachers who love and support them. Because it takes more than a village to raise happy, healthy and responsible kids.

When we support parents, we support kids who are confident, compassionate, and ambitious. Kids who aren’t modeled inappropriate ways to handle frustration and anger, but who are shown how to grow and regulate through their healthy array of emotions.

When we support teachers, we support students who are secure, connected, and ready to learn and explore. It is only with a trusting bond that we can reach them academically, but more importantly, on an emotional level, to harvest a respectful and responsible environment from which they can blossom.

The concept behind what I call the Blooming Rose’s Feelings Collection is simple. It’s a series of engaging stories that each exemplify a sticky social or emotional situation that our main characters work to find their way out of. These stories aim to relate to kids and students using story prompts in the beginning and end to help them make connections between our story elements and their real-life scenarios. I also wanted to extend beyond the text by creating academic bundles of exercises and character-building activities to go along with each title, so the story doesn’t have to end when the book does.

Books are such amazing and magical tools that help bridge the gap between young imaginations and real-world obstacles in a fun yet inspiring way. When we arm our village with meaningful books, enriching materials, and creative activities, we might just be able to shape a more loving, supported, and healthy world for generations to come.

Meet the Author:

As a former second grade and elementary art teacher, Lauren Piland is a Louisiana native turned Texas homesteader who knows the importance of engaging read-alouds both in class and at home. After taking a step back from the classroom to raise her second child, she realized the gap some campuses face between the undersupported emotional struggles of students and the overwhelming responsibilities of teachers. “When we can use tools such as books and relatable characters to open up those more meaningful conversations, both at home and in the classroom, it aids in that process of peeling back layers of getting to know each other better and building trust,” says Piland. “Children need to feel seen, feel heard, and feel protected. And we do that by tapping into our emotions.”

Piland also wanted to further support teachers by including ready-to-use, curriculum-based exercises to go along with each book that focus on learning objectives such as reading comprehension strategies, vocabulary building and word mechanics exercises, writing prompts, whole group projects and STEM exercises with differentiated versions for students in Pre-K all the way to fourth grade.
