Review By LAWonder10:
I really like the fun way the Doctoroo series encourages good habits and manners in children. They are a fun way to stress positive choices into young, developing minds. Doctorooo and the Picnic Pirates is a great book, emphasizing good eating habits. It is also a great book for children in the United States to enjoy, especially near to and during the Fourth of July celebration.
The Illustrator, Irina Dringova, did a fantastic job with her illustrations. The caricatures and scenes are very well depicted. The colors are brilliant. These features truly enhance the enjoyment of the book.
I am looking forward to reading the next Doctoroo book in the series!
I offer a Five Stars rating.
This book was gifted me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.

Incorporating More Fruits and Vegetables into Mealtimes By Dr Rachel Wellner
Eating fruits and vegetables is incredibly important for your health and overall well-being. Most people don’t eat enough. The recommended intake for adults is 5-7 portions (400-600g) of fruits and vegetables every day.
Fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants that are vital to our bodies’ proper functioning. They can help to keep our immune systems strong, improve our digestion, manage our weight, lower cholesterol levels, reduce blood pressure and prevent a myriad of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, kidney diseases and many types of cancer. Due to their high water content, fruits and vegetables can also help control hunger cravings by keeping us feeling fuller for longer periods of time. A diet rich in produce has been proven to lower bad cholesterol levels while also increasing good cholesterol levels
and improving blood sugar control. Additionally, diets packed with plant-based foods have been linked to reducing the risk of developing certain cancers.
If you’re looking to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your mealtimes, here are four simple tips that can help:
Tip 1: Start your day with a nutritious smoothie or breakfast bowl with a mix of fresh and frozen fruit, leafy greens, and protein-packed nuts or nut butter.
Tip 2: Incorporate fruits and vegetables into every meal throughout the day. Throw some spinach leaves in your omelet, have a side salad with lunch or dinner, and snack on cut-up veggies like celery sticks or carrot rounds.
Tip 3: Experiment with some delicious meatless meals! Try quinoa bowls filled with roasted vegetables, veggie stir fries, lentil tacos and more.
Tip 4: When creating meals at home, keep it interesting by trying new recipes such as mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potatoes, zucchini noodles instead of regular pasta noodles, or eggplant parmesan as an alternative to traditional Parmigiana.
Tip 5: – try adding dried or fresh fruit to oatmeal or cereal, or adding chopped veggies to pasta dishes, tacos, salads, and wraps.
Adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet is an important step in achieving a balanced, nutritious diet. You don’t need to make drastic changes all at once; taking small steps towards consuming more fruits and vegetables is a great approach. Taking these simple steps will ensure you get adequate vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and other nutrients every day!
