Review By LAWonder10:
This delightful tale involves a kangaroo doctor and her animal team.
This mystery takes doctor Roo and her team to Hawaii to solve a medical case there.
This book is educational in partially defining the area as well as solving the medical mystery.
This story contains a very well written rhyme and educational subject, causing less fear of doctors, and some fun mysteries for young children.
The illustrations done by Irina Dringova are soothingly colored and very well done. It contains great topics for discussion.
I offer a 5-star rating.
*This book was gifted to me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.

The huge benefits of exercise for your child
By Rachel Wellner MD
The Doctoroo children’s book series is dedicated to teaching kids from pre-school to grade school about basic health issues and maintenance. I use the format of a mystery followed by a global trip Doctoroo and friends take to solve that mystery to enhance the excitement of “catching the culprit” and teaching kids the basic health lesson. My first two books are about good nutrition and hand hygiene respectively and this third book, Doctoroo and the Case of the Red Hot Hawaiians is about sun protection.
I have many more books planned in the Doctoroo series, including one that encourages kids to exercise. As I’m sure you have read, childhood obesity rates are skyrocketing. Active children are less likely to develop many chronic diseases later on such as heart disease, diabetes, obesity and hypertension. Active children are also less likely to have problems with depression and anxiety.
How can you encourage children to be active? Choose activities that are appropriate for their age and interests. They’ll be less likely to be bored or frustrated if an activity is too hard or too easy for them. Provide equipment for an activity or enroll them in classes or sports teams. Take them to the playground in your neighborhood. Make it fun!
Be a role model and get active yourself! Schedule time to do activities with your kids like bike rides or a sport you both can do. Limit the time the family spends watching TV or playing video games. But don’t overdo to the point of injury.
I started writing the Doctoroo series to teach kids important health messages in a fun way with songs and stories. Doing activities with your child also teaches them that being healthy can be fun.

Have you ever been to Hawaii?
Tracie, I have Never been to Hawaii…so sad. I have ALWAYS wanted to go. I have dear friends from there and a cousin who taught at BYU Hawaii university who raised his family there. I doubt I ever get to go in this life.
Looks like a cute book.
