Publisher: R Pride Publishing
Release date: December 2022

Book Description:

“I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU” – Hebrews 13:5

Opposites attract and Chad and Sierra are that.

Chad is destroyed on the outside by a suicide bomber while Sierra is broken on the inside by human trafficking. They are each other’s reflection of who they are – beautiful but ravaged by life.

Chad Michaels, an Afghan vet, comes home to a suicide bomber who destroys not only his family but the man he was. Now, he must deal with life as a burn victim — as a monster. But Sierra sees what a beautiful man Chad truly is.

Not all wounds are flesh. Many are inside one’s soul where Sierra Smith’s scars run deep. Yet, Chad sees the innocence that Sierra fails to see. Kidnapped at the early age of six, Sierra was raised to become a high-end prostitute who now dreams of becoming a nurse…someone who helps heal people not service them. But her past relentlessly haunts her.

Review By LAWonder10:

An ex-Army war hero who saved many lives as he noticed a suicide bomber. However he was severely burned over 1/3 of his body and lost his wife who covered their little daughter with her body. Chad had his daughter, parents, and a Special Ops team but the love f his life was gone. He had to endure excruciating treatments and was wrapped like a mummy.
Sierra was a semester away from receiving her nursing degree. She was an excellent nurse. She had escaped a life with a sex trafficker. She was called on to care for a special burn patient.
Two people with scars – one internally and the other externally. Each has his/her own Hell to go through. Will one or both somehow prevail, or will they fall to ruin?
This is an outstanding story addressing the horrors of sex trafficking and of burn victims. It is also a story of judgment, unity, and of loyalty, and service.
The events are nonstop, and it would have been a very emotional tale, except for a slight disconnect between the reader and the author. It was written somewhat as a journalist would report it. Otherwise, it was an excellent story.
Personally, I understood the author’s need to accentuate on the the painful procedure burn victims go through and the roughness of criminals, but I feel through good literary skills this could have been done without the actual use of profanity.
Although I dislike the foul language, I am still glad I read the book. It really emphasizes how deceiving, cruel and heartless those involved in these crimes are.
The characters were so real, the events vividly described and the reader is totally brought into the story.
The Title Is slightly confusing to me. The lives are mirrored in a way but not really. However, the Cover Image is eye-catching and well-chosen.
I offer a Four Stars rating fr this book.
