Review By LAWonder10:

Much of this self-help book is so familiar to me because of my own traumatic experiences and yet, so much of this author’s experience is enlightening and establishes the things I have come to know, “If one looks around to find those he/she can serve, there are so many who have suffered worse pain than one’s own”.

This author’s an amazing story and what she has learned from it is truly inspiring. She has brought out several key points that will aid others in becoming their “best selves”.

A few key points that she has expounded on that I have found to be so true are:

1.  Importance of “accountability”. In present and past generations, individuals feel this imposes on his/her freedoms. The author points out reasons why without accountability, true happiness and success can never be achieved. I loved the idea of, and her description of, accountability “coaches”.

2. Importance of ridding oneself of self-doubt.

3. “Optimism is not about everything always moving forward the way you want without setbacks. It’s about being the person who sees taking a step backward after taking a step forward as part of the dance instead of as the end of the world.”

4. Do not entertain preconceived notions, but keep an open mind.

5. Happiness is not a state of being, it is a choice.

6. According to this author and a very intense psychology professor I had, “should” needs to be eliminated from all languages.

In her closing remarks, she very effectively summarizes the key points of her book.

The only negative I found was the needed clarity in taking the steps to accomplish the “goals” and changes. A few examples or more specifics would have been appreciated by this reader.

All in all her story was amazing and captivating, The lessons she learned and the process she went through was equally captivating. It was very well-written.

I offer a Four and a Half Stars rating.

This book was gifted me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.
