Review By LAWonder10:

The Dolphin Dentist is a brightly illustrated picture book humanizing dentists and by doing so, teaches a lesson for adults to learn as well as children.

It is a little outrageous. and “corny” but it is meant to be fun.

Cheryl DaVeiga is a talented artist and children’s author. The songs on her website that accompany some of her books are fun and truly enhances the story.

This is my least favorite of her books but it is still a fun book.

The Book Cover and Title are very well chosen.
I offer a Three and a Half Stars rating.

This book was gifted to me with no pressure to post a positive review. This is my honest review.

The Joy of Connection By Cheryl DaVeiga

Creating children’s books and songs can be lonely work. I work mostly alone for long periods of time. Then, I send my creations out into the world, hoping to connect with…someone…does anyone
out there share my sense of humor, appreciate my wordplay… sing along with my songs? Do they get ME?

I’d love to be one of those artists or authors who claim that they create for the sake of creating, but I am not.

I know not everyone will relate to my work, but I need feedback. I long to connect through my art. Nothing feeds my soul like seeing kids enjoy my creations with my own eyes. Sadly, that
happens a lot less often than I’d like.

Recently, when I had the opportunity to read one of my books and share one of my sing-alongs with 4 classes of African children (via Google Meet), I thought my heart would burst with joy. There on my screen were a hundred or so kids watching (me in bunny ears) and listening to me read Chocolate Space Bunnies. They eagerly asked questions–and then, best of all, they sang along…. loudly and enthusias&cally… to my Ooey Gooey Looey song, as the lyrics flashed on the screen. Many were dancing. They looked delighted, and I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face.

Isn’t a deep connection is what we are all looking for? In a world of electronics and impersonal social media, authentic personal encounters can make all the difference.

Thank you to all who give me feedback, in the form of reviews, pictures, videos, or kind words I plan to make a lot more time for read-alouds and sing-alongs in my future.
