Book Description:
Although the reappearance of the Alpha Centauri I crew was miraculous, it was not the celebratory homecoming they expected. Their return to a world reeling from a pandemic that wiped out more than half the population thrust them right into the center of controversy and conflict. Now, three years later, though the tide has turned and the survival of the human race seems to be secure, the survival of human relations is far less certain. The cure should have been the injection of hope the world needed to restore balance and end the chaos of the last four decades. Instead, the complex implications for personal rights and freedom have fractured the North American territory in such a way that the division may never be repaired. As the crew dispersed to find their place in this new landscape, Hunter Young found himself embedded in the Marshall administration as an agent for the mysterious K Group. What had been a relatively uneventful assignment suddenly becomes a whirlwind of adventure as he is called to a rendezvous that requires a long and circuitous journey.

Review By LAWonder10:
The Alpha Centour1 crew had all been dispersed back into society in the various countries they originated from. In this new female dominated world, the men of the crew were a commodity. Hunter was assigned as a personal consultant to President Marshall. He was assigned an assistant, Cody, who was a spy for the Resistance.
He and Major Lydia Statham had been apart for a year while she went “underground” to assist the Resistance. The last time he heard from her, she was in Maine. Now she has asked that he join her in Nevada but she couldn’t say why. Because of the trust they had built the past two years, he agreed. The problem was, how does he evade the government security measures to get to her undetected?
They concocted a plan which sent him on several journeys until he was able to meet up with her. the action does not stop there. His son and many other characters are further introduced in this second book of the series.
The individuals in the “Resistance” have made some shocking discoveries. Can world peace continue as it is? Or will human greed and weaknesses once again arise?
As the series continues, it will be interesting to discover the answer to these questions and more.
This is an unusual dystopian series. Although this second one is very good, I enjoyed the first book of the series more. I liked the unique format. I also, felt the main content of this second one lacked depth. Additionally, I couldn’t make a connection from the title with the story. The cover image is okay and may attract the “eye of the browser:.
*Caution: this does contain a few words of profanity and foul language
I offer a Four Stars rating for this book.
