Review By LAWonder10:
For fun, quirky, tales of peculiar characters, Cheyl DaVeiga’s books are sure to please!
Not only are they a lot of fun to read, one can visit BiffBamBooza.com and play the singalongs that accompany the stories, plus, there are Activity Books for further enjoyment. This is highly recommmended because they are written so well and truly add to the entertainment of each book. ‘The Prickly Problem: Dr. Pete the Porcupine’ Dr. Pete has had a long busy day solving “prickly” problems but had many of hs patients with another “prickly” problem they were certain only he could solve.
The illustrations were absolutely dazzling! They were colorful, bold and the expressions were so lifelike.
The song made for this book was so much fun and added excitement to the story.
I offer a Five Stars rating for this book.
This book was gifted me with no pressure for a positive review. This is my honest review.

A Prickly Problem in Perspective – A Love Letter
During the writing of The Prickly Problem, my love Tom was dying from cancer. Before his
surprise diagnosis, he was healthy, eating well and exercising. He was way too young. We’d
created a magical life together, and now this cruel twist of fate was going to change all that.
Through it all, Tom’s spirit would bend (ever so slightly) but not break. And so, I could not allow my own to break. We talked a lot about death and what it might be like. But mostly, we talked about life, and what it truly meant to live every moment fully. Before receiving a death sentence, that line is a concept–a bumper sticker–now it was real. “We’re in the business of living!” was our everyday mantra.
We did live fully, for a while, until our days began to be filled with emergency room, hospital and doctor visits, and finding pain relief. He barely complained. He smiled his big, beautiful smile through the worst of it.
Sometimes I think he was comforting me more than I was him. On his last day, we laughed and sang our favorite songs together, several that I’d written for him, with me crying and him giving me the gift of that beautiful smile one last time.
Tom read every draft of The Prickly Problem and delighted in watching it come together, as he did all of my books. He got joy watching my own joy in writing books and songs. We kept his
prickly problems in perspective by laughing together at my silly lines and ideas. No one encouraged me more. No one was more proud. He made me promise to keep doing what I loved, to keep laughing, and to keep living fully …now that we both knew what that truly meant.
I’m trying. But one thing is for sure–Tom’s joyful and kind spirit is infused in this book, and the ones I’ve written since he’s gone. I’ve had a lot of time on my hands. And I have the fierce memory of Tom cheering me on and reminding me to keep my own prickly problems in perspective. Life IS short, but it’s filled with beauty. Laugh and sing your way through it.
